Third-graders at Iron Station Elementary School recently participated in a Math-A-Thon. The program, now in its 22nd year, is an
educationally based fundraising effort in which students obtain sponsors for the number of math problems completed in special workbooks provided for students in grade K-9. The children raised $1,242.61
for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The program is sponsored nation-ally by Six Flags Theme Parks, who provide free passes to their parks for every student raising more than $35. "We are very
proud of our third-grade students for working so hard on the Math-A-Thon," said Karen David, volunteer coordinator. "I also want to extend our thanks to the Iron Station community for
supporting our students. It takes all of us to make a difference in the lives of children with cancer, and we can all feel proud of our response."
