Dancers celebrate 10th anniversary
By DIANE TURBYFILL, LTN Staff Writer
March 14, 2003 - When the music starts, there are no wall flowers in the old Moose Lodge
Quite the contrary.
The Kountry Kickers have been stomping, clapping, kicking and spinning in unison for years.
“We love it,” Sybil Alexander-Beaver says.
Beaver and Janette Bost have been with the Kountry Kickers since the group was formed. They enjoy dancing with the experienced group and teaching newcomers.
The dancers meet each Monday night at Craig’s Place. Beginners come at 5:30 p.m. The experienced dancers begin their fun at 6:30.
“It’s wonderful exercise,” Bost says.
Beaver and Bost learned to line dance years ago by taking classes and workshops. They began working with the Lincoln County Recreation Department to offer line
dancing classes in the area.
“We took a class from John “Dangerous” Robinson,” Bost says.
Kelly Crisp also teaches beginners with the Kountry Kickers. The trio says they enjoy teaching, and they love dancing.
And they’re glad to see the interest in line dancing.
“It’s really coming back with country music,” Bost says.
The Kountry Kickers will celebrate their 10th anniversary Monday and kick off their new round of beginners classes.
The party starts at 5:30 p.m. at Craig’s Place, Old Hwy. 321 Business. There will be dancing and refreshments
The Kountry Kickers is sponsored by the Recreation Department.
