A five-day building project has supplied two congregations with a new home.
The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses was completed in December and now hosts meetings for more than 100 English and Spanish-speaking members.
Bill Brooks, elder, said the transition to the new location has been smooth. Before the move, the congregations met at a rented building in Crouse. The new location at 855 Buffalo
Shoals Road is centrally located in the Lincoln County territory.
“It’s more convenient for people,” Brooks said. “They love it.”
The new brick structure sits on 6.6 acres of land. It includes two classrooms, a literature library and a 200-seat auditorium.
Brooks points out a feature for mothers — a side room for changing and nursing children. Because meetings are attended by entire families, he said the room is needed.
While the congregation holds strong around 100, the building was constructed by more than 200 volunteers. “Brothers” and “sisters” from around North and South Carolina spent the first
week in December in Lincolnton for the project. Teams assembled walls, installed lighting and painted walls.
The “quick build” construction is customary with Jehovah’s Witnesses. The projects provide time for fellowship and teach skills.
The Lincolnton project did extend a little past the usual building time due to inclement weather. A few weekend touch-ups brought the project to a close.
An open house will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses Saturday, Jan. 31 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
