————————————
The Lincoln Arts Council hosted the opening reception for the 2004 Amateur Photography Shoot Out Sunday at the Lincoln Cultural Center.
Area photographers were awarded and celebrated during the event. Cash prizes were given to top winners.
More than 70 pieces were entered in this year’s competition.
The juror for the show was Anne Fitzgerald Godfrey, an accomplished area artist.
Godfrey works mostly in water color and has gained local recognition. She has won many prizes in the Lincoln Arts Council’s annual shows and in regional art shows. Last year she
received a Regional Art Grant from the Charlotte/Mecklenburg Arts & Science Council.
Godfrey has used photography as a tool in helping her with light, shadow and color in her compositions.
“Artistic expression and technical merit abound in this photography exhibit,” she said.
