Anna Bolen

KANSAS — Anna L. Bolen, 86, of Leavenworth, died Dec. 10, 2003. A Mass of Christian burial was at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was a member. Burial followed in the Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Born in Leavenworth, Kan., she was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, John Bolen of Bend, Ore. and Richard Bolen of Lincolnton; three grandchildren, Michael Bolen, Angela Wilson and Douglas Bolen and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Arthritis Foundation both in care of the funeral home.

CATAWBA — James Daniel Christopher, 57, of 1397 Bolton Road, died Dec. 15, 2003. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Burke Mortuary Chapel in Newton. Burial will follow in Welcome Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 tonight at the funeral home.

She was born in Catawba County.

Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Christopher of Catawba; one son, Eric Carpenter of Catawba; one daughter, Jennifer Stewart of Claremont; three brothers, Jackie Christopher and Larry Christopher both of Catawba and Ray Christopher of Statesville; one sister, Faye Eades of Newton and six grandchildren, Jessica Stewart, Kristopher Stewart, Rachel Stewart, Erica Christopher, Andrew Christopher and Anthony Christopher.

Frank Griffith

FLORIDA — Frank E. Griffith, 80, died Dec. 12, 2003.

Born in Ivaton, W. Va., he was retired from HP Hoods and Sons as a mechanical engineer and WWII U.S. Navy veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Lilliam Griffith of Fla.; one daughter, Linda Lawson of Gastonia; one brother, Rome Griffith of W. Va.; three sisters, Mary Lee Wagnor of Ohio, Ruth LaBlanc of Fla. and Minnie Palmer of W. Va.; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Curlew Hills Memory Gardens is in charge of arrangements.

Jim Neal

BESSEMER CITY — James “Jim” Daniel Neal, 81, of 137 Tryon School Loop Road, died Dec. 15, 2003. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Hephzibah Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Born in Gaston County, he was a retired service manager from Kiser Chevrolet.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Kiser of the home; one son, Tommy Neal of Bessemer City; one daughter, Myra Albertson of Cherryville; one sister, Pearl Mason of Cherryville and four grandchildren, Angela White, James Neal, Chad Albertson and Summer Albertson.

Mozelle Carter

CHERRYVILLE  — Mozelle Senter Carter, 85, of Century Care, formerly of Dogwood Drive, died Dec. 15, 2003. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 1:45 p.m. today at Warlick Funeral Home.

Born in Lincoln County, she worked as a sales clerk at Dave Learner’s

Survivors include one sister, Thelma Huss of Lincolnton; four grandchildren, Scott Carter, Todd Carter, Tommy Carter and Cammie Elmore and seven great-grandchildren.

Florence Holtzclaw

CHERRYVILLE — Florence Denton Holtzclaw, 84, of 2748 Clineland Road, died Dec. 11, 2003. Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home. Burial followed at Rose Hill Memorial Park.

Born in Cleveland County, she was retired from Cochran Furniture and a member of Gospel Way Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Manley Holtzclaw of Cherryville; three daughters, Elizabeth Fortenberry, Ponese Holtzclaw and Cathy Eaker all of Cherryville; five grandchildren, Andy Eaker, Devin Eaker, Emily Eaker, Jackie Shull and Johnny Bridges and three great-grandchildren.

Garland Fourshee

BESSEMER CITY — Garland Fourshee, 70, of 6235 Dallas-Cherryville Hwy., died Dec. 15, 2003. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Arrowood Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Born in Gaston County, he was the owner and operator of Fourshee Cash and Carry and retired from Garland Fourshee Dry Wall.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Rayfield Fourshee of the home; one son, Dennis Fourshee of Cherryville; two daughters, Cathy Ingram and Tammy Fourshee both of Bessemer City; two sisters, Jewel Branton of Iron Station and Glenda Grigg of Vale; four grandchildren, Shane Ingram, Brent Stroupe, Auston Fourshee and Meghan Fourshee and four great-grandchildren.

BESSEMER CITY — Fred Arthur Arrowood, 73, of 426 St. Mark’s Church Road, died Dec. 15, 2003. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Shady Grove Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 tonight at Carpenters Funeral Home.

Born in Cheokee County, he was retired from Doran Rhyne Houser Plant.

Survivors include his wife Linda Dellinger of the home; one son, Charles Arrowood of Cherryville; two daughters, Sharon Bolynn of Bessemer City and Wanda Cline of Gastonia; four brothers, Preston Arrowood of Cherrvyille, Ray Arrowood of Grover, Roy Arrowood of Bessemer City and Hoyte Arrowood of Lawndale; one sister, Marie Dellinger of Cherryville; four grandchildren, Michael Shane, Joy Bolynn, Crystal Smith and Josh Cline and two great-grandchildren.

Hazel Carpenter

Hazel Rose Warren Carpenter, 78, of 631 Jacobs Trail, died Dec. 15, 2003. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Gainsville Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 tonight at EF Drum Funeral Home.

Born in Catawba County, she was a weaving instructor at JP Stevens.

Survivors include her husband, Ernest Carpenter of the home; one daughter, Roseanne Harkey of Lincolnton; one granddaughter, Carrie Freeman; three brothers, Conley Warren of Lincolnton, Charles Warren of Lenoir and Kenneth Warren of Catawba and one sister, Hilma Witherspoon of Newton-Conover.

Esther Shuford

Esther B. Shuford, 88, of Asbury Church Road, died Dec. 16, 2003. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Asbury United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Friday at Warlick Funeral Home.

She was retired from Lincoln County Schools as a teacher and was a Sunday School teacher.

Survivors include one son, Charles Shuford of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; two daughters, Libby Mize and Carole Jenkins both of Lincolnton; six grandchildren, Rhonda Davis, Cindy Lindsay, Roger Jenkins II, Bobby Jenkins, Joseph Shuford and Robin Shuford and four great-grandchildren.

John Lineberger

John Reese “Fatsy” Lineberger Jr., 61, of 1525 Jessica Ann Road, died Dec. 16, 2003. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Southside Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Warlick Funeral Home.

Born in Lincoln County, he was a self-employed car detailer.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Lineberger of the home; one son, John Lineberger III of Lincolnton; one daughter, Dana Moses of Lincolnton; one brother, Teddy Lineberger of Lincolnton; one sister, Tammy Peeler of Lincolnton and three grandchildren.

M. McCaslin

Margaret Estelle Weaver McCaslin, 85, of 208 Wellington Drive, died Dec. 16, 2003. Funeral services are planned for Friday at McKendree United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one and half hour prior to the service at the church.

Born in Catawba County, she was a homemaker.

Survivors include three daughters, Agnes Cline, Evelyn Cochrane and JoAnne Potts all of Lincolnton; one sister, Marvelle Jones of Litchfield, Ohio; four grandchildren, Mitch Cline, Casey Potts, Kristi Potts and Brandee Potts and two great-grandchildren.
