Neva Ingle

Neva Taylor Ingle, 97, of 5091 Fairfield Church Road, died Dec. 6, 2003. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Hull’s Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Born in Lincoln County, she was retired from Packaged and Gathered Eggs.

Survivors include three daughters, Helen Withers of High Shoals and Betty Canipe and Hazel Ingle both of Lincolnton; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren.

Stamey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Arthur Snipes

Arthur Jennings Snipes, 90, of 770 Walker Branch Road, died Dec. 6, 2003. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Asbury United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Born in Lincoln County, he was retired from North Carolina Spinning.

Survivors include two daughters, Janice Sherrill and Donna Heafner both of Lincolnton; one brother, JW Snipes of Lincolnton; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

Warlick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Jo Barnes

Josephine “Jo” Reel Barnes, 85, of Lincoln Nursing Center, formerly of Iron Station, died Dec. 6, 2003. Funeral services were at 7 p.m. Sunday at Pearl Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial followed in Iron Station Community Cemetery.

Born in Lincoln County, she was a retired spinner.

Survivors include two sons, Randy Barnes of Knoxville, Tenn. and Everette Barnes of Asheville; three sisters, Carolyn Parker of Lincolnton, Glenda Ellis of Rock Hill, SC and Mary Deese of Lancaster, SC; two brothers, Alvin Reel and William Reel both of Kings Mountain; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

 

Sadie Davis

MAIDEN — Sadie Lee Boulware Davis, 69, of 214 B. St., died Dec. 5, 2003. Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Roseland Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Born in Union County, SC, she was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond Davis of the home; two daughters, Sheila Brittian of Iron Station and Brenda Dove of Chester, SC; one brother, Monty Boulware of Chester, SC; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

 

Jackie Jenkins

CHERRYVILLE — Jackie Daryl Jenkins, 62, of 2140 Fairways Drive, died Dec. 6, 2003. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. today at First United Methodist Church, where he was a member. Burial followed in City Memorial Cemetery.

Born in Gaston County, he was president and CEO of Carolina Federal Credit Union, member of Cherryville Masonic Lodge 505 AF & AM, member of Scottish Rites Bodies, Oasis Temple, Lions Club and States Credit Union Professional of the Year 1998.

Survivors include his wife, Gail Van Dyke Jenkins; one son, Jeff Jenkins of Lawrenceville, Ga.; one daughter, Chelsi Jenkins of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two brothers, Ronnie Jenkins and Rick Jenkins both of Cherryville and one sister, Teresa Bell of Walhalla, SC.

Robert McDowell

BOILING SPRINGS — Robert “Greasy” McDowell, 67, of 2196 Old Cliffside Road, died Dec. 4, 2003. Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Sunday at Light Oak Baptist Church. Burial followed in Cleveland Memorial Park.

Enloe Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

 

Ambrose Smith

Ambrose Guy Smith, 78, of Cardinal Health Care, formerly of 718 Louise Avenue, died Dec. 5, 2003. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. DAV graveside rites followed at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Born in Catawba County, he was a plumber and a WWII Army veteran.

Survivors include his caregiver, Wendy White of Lincolnton and a number of nephews.

Thelma Baxter

KANNAPOLIS — Thelma Bess Baxter, 83, of 7340 Therrell Road, died Dec. 4, 2003. A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Unity United Methodist Church. Interment will be private.

Born in Lincoln County, she was a retired caregiver, was a member of American Auxiliary Post 321 and was of the Methodist Faith.

Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Lambert of Kannapolis; two sons, Jerry Baxter of Duncan, SC and Donald Spake of Kings Mountain; one sister, Elizabeth Baxter of Coconut Creek, Fla.; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Unity United Methodist Church Building Fund, 8505 United Church Road, Kannapolis, NC 28081.

CONOVER — Cleo K. Goble, 92, of 920 4th St. SW, died Dec. 8, 2003.

Annie Loritts

Annie Bruce Reinhardt Loritts, 103, of 1498 South Aspen St., died Dec. 3, 2003. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Herndon Chapel AME Zion Church. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. today at the church.

Born in Lincoln County, she was a member of Thomas Chapel AME Zion Church, and was subsequently selected as Lincoln County Teacher of the Year.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Ebony and White’s Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

 

Kevin Finger

Kevin Bernard Finger, 26, of 915 E. Pine St., died Dec. 6, 2003. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in the chapel at Ebony & White’s Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service in the chapel.

Born in Lincoln County, he was a student at Creative Opportunity and was a member of Moore’s Chapel AME Zion Church.

Survivors include his mother, Linda Finger of the home; aunt, Mary Belton of the home and uncle Alfred Finger fo Lincolnton.
