Terry Stamey

GASTONIA — Terry Gene Stamey, 59, of Gastonia, died Dec. 2, 2003. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Sharon Freewill Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. today at the church.

Born in Lincoln County, he was formerly employed by Gaston Electric.

Survivors include four brothers, Harold Stamey of Lawrenceville, William Stamey of Statesville, James Stamey of Gastonia and Gary Stamey of Maiden and one sister, Linda Walker of Bessemer City.

McLean Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.

 

Sarah Knox

Sarah Stewart Knox, 91, of the Brian Center. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Grand View Memorial Park in Rock Hill, SC. The family will receive friends from 1 until 1:45 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Born in Pickens, SC, she was a member of the Home Economics Faculty of Winthrop College, taught in the public schools in SC, served as supervisor of teacher training in the field of Home Economics, was regional supervisor with the South Carolina Extension Service.

Survivors include two sisters, W.B. McGhee of Macon, Ga. and Louise Stoudemire of Lincolnton.

Memorials may be made to Fort Hill Presbyterian Church, 399 College Avenue, Clemson, SC 29631 or St. Jude’s Hospital for Children, PO Box 50, Memphis, Tenn. 38101.

 

Annie Loritts

Annie R. Loritts, 103, of 1498 South Aspen St., died Dec. 3, 2003. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Herndon AME Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Monday at the church.

She was a retired educator and member of Thomas Chapel AME Zion Church.

Survivors include one foster son, Rev. John Herndon, III of Huntsville, Ala. and several nieces and nephews.

 

 

Robert McDowell

BOILING SPRINGS — Robert “Greasy” McDowell, 67, of 2196 Old Cliffside Road, died Dec. 4, 2003.

Arrangements are incomplete at Enloe Mortuary.

 

Mark Harrill

Mark Harrill, 77, of 1442 N. Aspen St., died Dec. 4, 2003. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Warlick Funeral Home.

Born in Lincoln County, he was retired from Southern Furniture and a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII.

Survivors include his wife, Viloa D. Harrill of the home; one son, Allen Harrill of Santa Fe, NM; two sisters, Sarah Caudle of Lincolnton and Alma Maugeri of Strausburg, Penn.; two granddaughters, Amanda Eller and Brittany Schrum.

Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 200 Bethel Church Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092.

 

Sadie Davis

Sadie Davis, died Dec. 5, 2003.

Arrangements are incomplete at Goodin-Drum Funeral Home.
