Joel Bondurant Jr.

A well-known community volunteer died this morning after a period of declining health.

Joel Marvin “Joe” Bondurant Jr. has died at age 80.

Bondurant’s smiling face greeted many senior citizens who sought help. He was a counselor with the SHIIP (Senior Health Insurance Information Program and volunteered with the senior tax assistance program.

GASTONIA — Mamie Kimble Green, 83, died Dec. 1, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the chapel at Ward Funeral Service. Interment will follow in Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Born in Lincoln County, he was a retired carpenter.

A graveside service will be held Monday at 4 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, Thomasville, Ga. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Center View Baptist Church.
