Joshua Helms

CLAREMONT — Joshua Thomas Helms, 17, of 3690 Oakwood Avenue, died Nov. 25, 2003. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in St. Mark’s Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 tonight at the church.

Born in Catawba County, he was in the electrical trade class at Bunker Hill High School and a member of FFA.

Survivors include his father, Charles Helms of Claremont; mother, Donna Helms of Claremont; one brother, Nicholas Helms of Claremont; one sister, Crystal Helms of Claremont; grandparents, James and Peggy Reep and Glenda Helms all of Claremont and two great-grandmothers, Vernie Helms of Newton and Ruby Hedrick of Conover.

Memorials may be made to MADD.

Seth Mode

CASAR — Seth James Mode, 77, of 265 Corinth Church Circle, Casar, died Nov. 26, 2003. Funeral services were today at Corinth Baptist Church. Burial was in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.

  Born in Cleveland County, he was employed as superintendent at Beam’s Construction Co. of Cheryville and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Genevieve McNeilly Mode; two sons, Steve Mode of Vale and Clyde Mode of Ellenboro; three sisters, Lizzie Mae Turner of Lawndale, Belle Lawrance and Ann Smathers, both of Canton; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Billie Schisler

DENVER —Billie Ruth Mundy Thompson Schisler died Nov. 25, 2003. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Denver Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Margaret M. Gabriel, 9225 Sherrills Ford Road, Terrell, after the service.

She was manager of “The Country Shop” Gift and Antiques in Denver.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Schisler; a son Richard Thompson of Stanley; a daughter, Diane Thompson Abercrombie of Radford, Va.; three sisters, Georgia Hurt of Charlotte; Nell Wade of Kannapolis; and Margaret Gabriel of Terrell; four grandchildren, Lori Wells, Robin Abercrombie, Jason Abercrombie and Joey Abercrombie; and two great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to an organization of the donor’s choice.

Zannie Bell

SHELBY — Zannie Bell, 91, of 1707 Stoney Point Road died Nov. 26, 2003. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Long Branch Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.

She was born in South Carolina.

Harold Rudisill

NEWTON — Harold Augustus Rudisill, 89, of 2956 South Highway 321, died Nov. 26, 2003. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Maiden. Burial will follow in Lawings Chapel Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. today at First Baptist.

Born in Catawba County, he was retired from Carolina Mills after 42 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Scottie Rudisill Abernethy of Newton; one brother, Garland Rudisill of Denver; two granddaughters, Robin Torrence and Alise Abernethy; and two great-granddaughters.

Doris Covington

HIGH POINT — Doris Marie Link Covington, 63, of 1560 Skeet Club Road died Nov. 26, 2003. Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at Burke Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in St. Mark’s Lutheran Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Burke Mortuary.

Born in Catawba County, she was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Connie Arney of High Point and Donna Carroll of Newton; one brother, David Link of Newton; and one sister, Janey Deal of Newton.

Nell Dellinger

DENVER — Nell Mull McGimsey Dellinger, 75, of Alyssum Place, Denver, and formerly of Morganton, died Nov. 26, 2003. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home in Morganton. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

She was born in Burke County.

Survivors include her husband, Grady Dellinger; a son, Rick McGimsey of Plant City, Fla.; daughters, Cathy Fisher of Taylorsville, Kim Mull of Charlotte, and Darnell Dietrich of Marion; step-sons, Steven McGimsey of Cameron Park, Calif. and Mike McGimsey of Morganton; step-daughters, Joan Withers of Iron Station, Zerina Francum of Gastonia, and Trudy Robbins of Newton; one sister, Kathleen Cook of Morganton; grandchildren, Robert Spencer, Amy Saine, Nathan Fisher, Alex Mull, Matthew Dietrich, Erika Dietrich, Ryan McGimsey and Kyle McGimsey; step-grandchildren, Jef Fisher, Amanda Fisher, Max McGimsey, Mike McGimsey, Molly McGimsey, Tonya Wilson, Marty Withers, Lee Withers, Haley Withers, Dana Lusk, Eric Francum, Ray Eaker, Tessie Eaker and Ashley Collette; three great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

James Abernethy

James Robert Abernethy, 60, of Horseshoe Lake Road died Nov. 28, 2003. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at E.F. Drum Funeral Home in Lincolnton.

 

Lola Mundy

CATAWBA — Lola Lee Mundy, 93, of 6704 Long Island Road, died Nov. 27, 2003. The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Center United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour and a half prior to the ceremony at the church.

She was born in Catawba County.
