Mary Barker

DENVER — Mary Broome Barker, 74, died Nov. 20, 2003. A service to celebrate her life was held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Fairfield United Methodist Church, where she was a member.

Born in Charlotte, she was employed by Presbyterian Hospital, a member of the church choir and volunteered with the East Lincoln Christian Ministries.

Survivors include four daughters, Linda McIntosh and Debbie Norton both of Denver and Sharon Irwin and Janice Ewing both of Charlotte; one son, Dallas Barker Jr. of Denver; 13 grandchildren, Chad McIntosh, Brian McIntosh, Jason McIntosh, Matthew McIntosh, Jeffrey Irwin, Stuart Irwin, Leslie Norton, Justin Barker, Carrie Barker, Mary Ewing, Sarah Ewing, Molly Ewing and Sadie Ewing and one great-grandchild.

Carrie Crowe

NEWTON — Carrie Lee Mauney Crowe, 87, of 1008 Radio Station Road, died Nov. 21, 2003. Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Sunday at Burke Mortuary Chapel in Newton. Burial followed in Eastview Cemetery.

She was born in Catawba County.

Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Queen of Maiden and Peggy Parker of Lincolnton; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

James Cobb

James Robert Cobb, 58, of 213 Fairfield Drive, died Nov. 21, 2003. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery.

Born in Mecklenburg County, he was retired from sales.

Survivors include one son, Brian Cobb of Iron Station; one daughter, Kristy Cobb of Charlotte and three grandchildren, Haleigh Cobb, Tyler Cobb and Lee Cobb.

Bertie Paysour

IRON STATION — Bertie Huffstetler Paysour, 100, of 4469 Paysour Pond Road, died Nov. 22, 2003. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Antioch Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Born in Gaston County, she was a homemaker.

Survivors include one son, Raymond Paysour of Holmes Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Bonnie Johnson of Charlotte and Lorene Grigg of Iron Station; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and 11 great great-grandchildren.

Cathy Martin

Cathy Murphy Abernethy Martin, 60, of 1588 Hwy. 73, died Nov. 22, 2003. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Gloryland Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3 p.m. today at the church.

Born in Lincoln County, she was a textile worker.

Survivors include two sons, Jamie Abernethy and Mark Abernethy both of Lincolnton and three grandchildren, Kelly Abernethy, Samantha Abernethy and Patty Abernethy.

Betty Lattimore

SHELBY — Betty Jean Lattimore, 65, of 405 East Graham St., died Nov. 23, 2003.

Arrangements are incomplete at Enloe Mortuary.

 

Lola Bynum

WILKESBORO — Lola Magoline Johnson Bynum, 84, of Wilkesboro, formerly of James Knoll Drive, North Wilkesboro, died Nov. 22, 2003. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel. Burial will follow in Moutlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Born in Wilkes County, she was retired from Modern Globe and was a member of Oak Forest Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda James of North Wilkesboro, Margie Miller of Charlotte and Wanda McGlamery of Greensboro; one sister, Edith Jarvis of Wilkesboro; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

VALE — William “Wilford” Leonhardt, 80, of 8384 Macedonia Church Road, died Nov. 24, 2003.
