Ruth Travis Wentz, 90, of 329 Highland Drive, died Nov. 17, 2003. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Hollybrook
Cemetery.
Born in Burke County, she worked in the textile industry.
Survivors include one son, Ralph Wentz of Vale; two daughters, Mary Keener and Patsy Hannon both of Lincolnton; five grandchildren
and two great-grandchildren.

Franklin Travis
NEWTON — Franklin Leroy Travis, 81, of 1774 Mt. Olive Church Road, died Nov. 16, 2003. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. today at Mt.
Olive Lutheran Church, where he was a member. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Born in Catawba County, he was a Staff Sgt. in the Army Air Corp., Gunner and Bombardier during WWII and European Theater, and a
member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen Travis of the home; two daughters, Jane Caldwell of Claremont and Brenda Keller of Washington, DC;
one brother, Alvin Travis of Buford, SC; one sister, Vinnalee Yow of Kannapolis; one grandson, Joshua Caldwell and two great-granddaughters.

Born in Gaston County, she was employed by Rhyne Houser Manufacturing Company and was a self-employed seamstress.
Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Bernice Hester of Shelby; two grandchildren, Janet Hardin and William Hardin and two
great-grandchildren.

Born in Allegheny, Penn., he was a process engineer for Hayward Pools and a U.S. Army veteran.
