Woodrow Ritchie

GASTONIA — Woodrow Wilson Ritchie, 89, of 120 Horsley St., died Nov. 13, 2003. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at The Colonal Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home. Burial followed in Gaston Memorial Park.

Born in Lincoln County, he was the owner and operator of a mobile home park and a member of United Methodist Faith.

Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Hall of Gastonia; one sister, Mary Lou Brandon of Gastonia; two grandchildren, Alan Hall and Gregory Hall and one great-grandchild.

Randy King

Randy Darrell King Sr., 55, of 740 Second St., died Nov. 14, 2003. Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Sunday at Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Born in Iredell County, he was department manager at Culp Industries.

Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Long King of the home; five sons, Randy King II, Don King, Derek King, Jonathan King and Beau King all of Lincolnton; two grandchildren, C.J. and Kathryn; mother, Reva King of Mooresville; four brothers, Richard King of Concord, Tony King of Salisbury, Steve King and Danny King both of Mooresville and three sisters, Sherry Passmore, Gail Lowery and Peggy Ritchie all of Mooresville.

Ruth Harkey

IRON STATION — Ruth Propst Harkey, 73, of 219 Rock Creek Drive, died Nov. 15, 2003. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. today in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Born in Catawba County, she was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Calvin Harkey; one son, John Harkey of High Point; two daughters, Debbie Womble of Raleigh and Patty Blackwell of Lincolnton; and five grandchildren, Courtney Crute, Meredith Crute, Brian Blackwell, Jason Blackwell and Allison Canipe.

Johnnie Price

Johnnie Alex Price, 80, of 2173 Dale Avenue, died Nov. 15, 2003. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at EF Drum Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Born in Laurens County, SC, he was retired from Pilot Freight Carriers, served in the U.S. Army during WWII and a member of DAV and Amvets.

Survivors include two sons, Johnnie Price of Charlotte and Sidney Price of Denver; one daughter, Patricia Eurey of Lincolnton; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

 

Martha Watts

CLAREMONT — Martha Sue Shuford Watts, 69, of 2875 Peachtree St., died Nov. 15, 2003. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. tonight at Burke Mortuary in Newton.

Born in Lincoln County, she was a retired teacher’s assistant, and a member of Bible Study Fellowship.

Survivors include her husband, William “Bud” Watts of the home; two sons, Tony Williams of Claremont and Joey Williams of Maiden; four daughters, Natalie Muss of Hickory, Fran Fredell of Connelly Springs; Kim Williams of Newton and Miriam Chapman of Claremont; three brothers, Carl Shuford of Nashville, Tenn., Jerry Shuford of Hickory and Dale Shurford of Conover; two sisters, Margie Davis and Joel Sherrill both of Newton and eight grandchildren, Todd Thornburg, Sabrina Blansett, Andrew Propst, Sara Williams, Jessica Williams, Makenzie Mull, Meredith Muss, Malea Mull.

W. Richardson

DALLAS — Warren Ralph “Dub” Richardson, 81, of 1219 Alexis High Shoals Road, died Nov. 12, 2003. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel at Ebony & White’s Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Fancy Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service in the chapel.

Survivors include four sons, Ralph Richardson, Julius Richardson, Terry Richardson and Joseph Richardson all of Buffalo, NY; one daughter, Natalie Jackson of Lincolnton; 14 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

 

Elizabeth Herndon

Elizabeth Webber Herndon, 83, of 1696 Buck Oak Drive, died Nov. 16, 2003.

Arrangements are incomplete at Ebony & White’s Funeral Service.

 

Ruth Wentz

Ruth Travis Wentz, 90, of 329 Highland Drive, died Nov. 17, 2003.

Arrangements are incomplete at Warlick Funeral Home.

 

Franklin Travis

NEWTON — Franklin Leroy Travis, 81, of 1774 Mt. Olive Church Road, died Nov. 16, 2003.

Arrangements are incomplete at Burke Mortuary in Newton.
