Memorial Chapel of Carpenters Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Plain View Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born in Cleveland County, worked for Dora Yarn Mill and was employed by Cavalier Specialty Yarn Company.
Survivors include her husband, Russell Jones of the home; three sons, Russell Jones of High Shoals, Tracy Jones and Allen Jones both
of Cherryville; three brothers, Ellis Costner of Lawndale, Larry Costner and Bobby Costner all of Cherryville; three sisters, Dorothy Gantt of Vale, Betty Parker of Lawndale and Linda Guffey of Golden Valley
and 9 grandchildren.
Sonjia Hedrick
CONOVER — Sonjia Jones Hedrick, 64, of 1615 Ivo Lane, died Nov. 5, 2003. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Burke Mortuary
Chapel in Newton. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
She was born in Mecklenburg County.
Survivors include her husband, Hal Hedrick of the home; two daughters, Janet Patrick and Vicki Mendenhall both of Newton; her
mother, Edith Jones of Hickory and one sister, Joy Morrison of Claremont.

Survivors include his wife, Queenie E. Gentry; two sons, Michael Ponder and Roberto Ponder; five daughters, Deborah Baskin, Vanessa
Ali, Rhonda Mosley, Lisa Gentry and Chiquita Gentry; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Born in Burke County, he was a retired self-employed store operator and farmer and a member of Laurel Hill United Methodist Church.

daughters, Linda Miller of Hickory, Sharon Hicks, Joy Walker and Robin Bumgarner all of Vale; four sisters, Beulah Reynolds and Flossie Wright both of Hickory, Irene Sigmon of Connelly Springs and Sis Gentry of
Newport, Va.; 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Born in Lincoln County, she was retired from Sherman Textiles as a weaver and a member of North Lincolnton Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Charles McCallister of High Shoals; three daughters, Helen Brown, Geraldine Patterson and Jo Anne Stacy
all of Lincolnton; one brother, Paul Spivey of Denver; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and eight great great-grandchildren.
Marie Autry
DENVER — Marie Newland Autry, 84, of 7665 Katherine Drive, died Nov. 5, 2003. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Denver
Wesleyan Church. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Born in Louisville, Ken., she was a gift buyer for Bush Stationers and worked for Curtis Wright Aircraft Manufacturing during WWII.
Survivors include her husband, Hayward Autry of the home; one son, Skip Autry of Graham; one daughter, Carole Autry of Denver; one
sister, Lucille Cooper of Ft. Myers, Fla. and two grandchildren, Amy Autry and Bryon Autry.

Born in Forsyth County, he was a student at East Lincoln Middle School.

Larry Daniel “Danny” Smith
Larry “Danny” Smith, beloved husband, father and faithful friend, went to be with the Lord, November 5, 2003, after suffering from a
lengthy illness. He passed away at the age of 51. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam war on the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk. He was employed with Freightliner Trucking in Mt. Holly, NC for 16
years prior to his illness. He graduated from Virginia High School in Bristol, VA in 1971 and Gaston College in Gastonia, NC in 1982.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Wiley Smith and daughters, Heather Smith and Courtney Smith, all of Lincolnton, NC; his parents,
John and Vera Smith of Bristol, VA; two brothers, Darrell Smith of Roanoke, VA and Don Smith of Ft. Collins, CO; a sister, Pam Tilley of Bristol, VA; his mother and father-in-law Peggy and E.B. “Speedy” Wiley of
Bristol, VA; three sister-in-laws; three brother-in-laws; seventeen nieces and nephews and five Godchildren.
Memorial services will be held at Boger City Methodist Church on Saturday, November 8, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive
friends one hour prior to the service. The inurnment will be at the Boger City Methodist Church Columbarium. Rev. Keys Pendleton will officiate.
Memorials may be made to Boger City Methodist Church, Lincoln County Humane Society and/or the American Diabetic Association.
He will be dearly missed by all.
