Coy Auton

MAIDEN — Coy Ree Auton, 90, of 913 E. Boyd St., died Oct. 23, 2003. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at East Maiden Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial followed in St. Matthews United Methodist Church of Christ Cemetery.

Born in Lincoln County, he was a 50 year member of Masonic Lodge and American Legion Post 240.

Survivors include his wife, Mamie Parker Auton of the home; one daughter, LaDonna Boyer of Charlotte; one foster-son, Chester Abee of Murrells Inlet; one brother, Glenn Auton of Maiden; one sister, Ollie Teague of Conover; one grandson, Jon Williams and one granddaughter, Caroline Boyer.

Memorials may be made to East Maiden Baptist Church Building Fund, 1400 East Maiden Road, Maiden, NC 28650 or Masonic Lodge 592 Building Fund, c/o Bob Sherrill, 1906 Water Plant Road, Maiden, NC 28650.

Lillie Evans

KINGS MOUNTAIN — Lillie Ruth Evans, 80, of 516 Kilgore Road, died Oct. 25, 2003.

Arrangements are incomplete at Enloe Mortuary.

Anne Goodrum

MECKLENBURG — Annie “Anne” Mae Hannah Goddrum, 99, died Oct. 25, 2003. A service to celebrate her life will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 tonight at the home of her son, Willis Goodrum.

Born in Iredell County, she was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church Senior Citizens Sunshine Club and Long Creek Chapter 151 Eastern Star.

Survivors include one son, Willis Goodrum of Charlotte; one daughter, Mary Summers of Wilmington; three grandchildren, Kenneth Goodrum, Allyson Boudreau and Ansley Anderson; and eight grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 19600 Zion St., Cornelius, NC 28031.

H. Cunningham

SHELBY — Hazaleen Osborne Cunningham, 53, of 1578 Timberlake Drive, died Oct. 24, 2003.

Arrangements are incomplete at Enloe Mortuary.

Germaine Black

SHELBY — Germaine Black, 63, of 2530 West Dixon Blvd., died Oct. 25, 2003. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family will gather at the home of Howard Black, 1370 Pete’s Road, Lincolnton.

Born in Canton, Ohio, she was a caregiver in the home health field.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Black of the home; one son, John Fisher of Canton, Ohio; one daughter, Angie Allen of Southport; one step-son, Jerry Black Jr. of Lincolnton and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Linda Ligon, 220 Dellinger Road, Shelby, NC 28152 to aid with medical expenses.

Constance Huff

SHELBY — Constance Lynn “Connie” Miller Huff, 52, of 304 Sumter St., died Oct. 20, 2003. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel at Enloe Mortuary. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3 p.m. today prior to the service.

Margaret Fredell

Margaret Cloninger Fredell, 80, died Oct. 27, 2003.

Arrangements are incomplete at E.F. Drum Funeral Home.

Robert Hurley

BLOWING ROCK — Robert Paul Hurley, 78, of PO Box 1755, died Oct. 18, 2003. A private burial services was held at Hollybrook Cemetery Sunday.

He was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran and a self-employed maintenance worker.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Rick Beers of Vicksburg, Mich. and Mrs. Daniel Featherstone Jr. of Blowing Rock; two brothers, Tom Hurley of Newton and Bill Hurley of Jacksonville, Fla.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Mary Thompson

Minister Mary Willis Thompson, 64, of 316 Jennings St., died Oct. 24, 2003. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Link’s Chapel AME Zion Church, where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Born in Cleveland County, she was a retired C.N.A. from the Brian Center.

Survivors include three sons, Albert Moore Jr. of Charlotte, Alvin Moore and Alan Moore both of Lincolnton; one daughter, Lisa Courtney of Lincolnton; one brother, Joe Willis of High Point; three sisters, Ruby Elder, Hester Houston both of Shelby and Dorietha Bailey of Philadelphia, Pa.; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Ebony & White’s Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn Caldwell

Evelyn Nadine Blanton White Caldwell, 71, of 747 W. 2nd St., died Oct. 26, 2003. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Woodside Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Warlick Funeral Home.

Born in Catawba County, she was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas White of Rock Hill, SC and David White of York, SC; two daughters, Libby Isaacks of Clover, SC and Carol Gainey of Blytlewood, SC; two brothers, John Blanton of Lincolnton and George Blanton of Maine.

Majorie Cloninger

Marjorie Long Cloninger, 89, of the Brian Center, formerly of Philadelphia Church Road, died Oct. 27, 2003. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Born in Lincoln County, she worked for National Carbon Plant.

Survivors include one son, Boyce Long of Iron Station; one brother, Daniel Long Jr. of Lincolnton; one step-son, Ralph Cloninger of Lincolnton; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and seven great great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Salem Baptist Church and Sharon Baptist Church Building Funds.

Ella Gilbert

Ella Mae Logan Gilbert, 85, of 639 Cat Square Road, died Oct. 27, 2003. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Born in Burke County, she was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, R.B. Gilbert of the home; four sons, Wayne Gilbert of Vale, Brett Gilbert and Terly Gilbert both of Charlotte and Keith Gilbert of Lincolnton; two daughters, Jewell Coffey of Gastonia and  Rita Brown of Lincolnton; one brother, Durham Logan of Vale; three sisters, Bertie Green and Aveleen Smith both of Lincolnton and Lottie Bolding of Statesville; 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Myrtle Rhyne

Myrtle Arney Rhyne, 87, of 1947 Southside Road, died Oct. 27, 2003. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Warlick Funeral Home.

Survivors include one son, Neal Rhyne of Lincolnton; one daughter, Dorothy Scronce of Lincolnton; one sister, Estelle Sigmon of Lincolnton; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
