Shawn Bell

STATESVILLE — Shawn Michael Bell, 24, of 185 Coolwood Drive, died Oct. 19, 2003. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Crestview Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 tonight at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.

Survivors include his parents, John David “Nookie” Bell and Karen Cook Bell both of the home; paternal grandmother, Martha Bell of Lincolnton; maternal grandparents, James and Nancy Ballard of Cleveland and Donald and Carolyn Cook of Stony Point.

 

Bob Richard

SHELBY — Bob Franklin Richard, 92, of 107 JB Drive, died Oct. 20, 2003. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park.

Born in Cleveland County, he was retired as the owner and operator of Bob’s American and a self-employed farmer and a member of Knob Creek United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel Roper Richard of the home; four sons, JB Richard, Alfred Richard, Don Richard and Kenneth Richard all of Shelby; two brothers, Ambrose Richard Jr. and Boyd Richard of Lawndale; 11 grandchildren, Blaine Richard, Keith Richard, Julie Cook, Kavin Richard, Eric Richard, Amy Breen, John Richard, Daniel Richard, Pam Proctor, Mike Richard d and Peggy Elswick; 22 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

 

Walter Mackey

CHERRYVILLE — Walter “Tang” Mackey, 61, of 509 S. Mulberry St., died Oct. 20, 2003. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Oak Grove AME Zion Church, where he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.

Born in Cleveland County, he was a retired truck driver from Mohican Mills.

Survivors include his wife, Lillie Mae Mackey of the home; two sons, Derrick Mackey and Charles Mackey both of Cherryville; one daughter, Sharon Patterson of Boston, Mass.; three brothers, Cleveland Mackey of Kings Mountain, Jason Mackey of High Point and Hayward Mackey Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters, Minnie Howell of Kings Mountain and Olivia Griggs of Cleveland, Ohio and three grandchildren.

Ebony & White’s Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

 

James Hahn

NEWTON — James R. Hahn, 78, of 207 West Herman St., died Oct. 21, 2003.

Arrangements are incomplete at Burke Mortuary.
