Pauline Ledford

LAWNDALE — Pauline Poole Ledford, 84, of 246 Sandpit Road, died Oct. 14, 2003. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at St. Paul Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Born in Cleveland County, she was a homemaker and retired from Carolina Shoe Company.

Survivors include one son, Carroll Ledford of Lawndale; five daughters, Deanie Mull of Cherryville, JoAnn Sharp of Morganton, Patsy Denton of Vale and Jackie Towery of Lawndale; three brothers, Jack Poole of Drexel, Johnny Poole of Charlotte and Carl Poole of Casar; two sisters, Mary McCombs of Lawndale and Thelma Porter of Shelby; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Baptist Church, 337 Hull Road, Casar, NC 28020 or Charity of donor’s choice.

Stamey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Vivian Smith

FALLSTON — Vivian Wentona Hicks Smith, 74, of 125 Dickson Road, died Oct. 14, 2003. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fallston Baptist Church, where she was a member. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 tonight at Stamey Funeral Home.

Born in Lincoln County, she was a homemaker, former member of the church choir and Junior Woman’s Club.

Survivors include her husband, Carl Smith of the home; one son, Alan Smith of Toledo, Ohio; one daughter, Cheri Crotts of Kernersville; one sister, Frances Davis of Raleigh; one grandson and three granddaughters.

Memorials may be made to National Alzheimer’s Association, 919 N. Michigan Ave. Chicago, Ill. 60611.

 

Katherine Morrow

MYRTLE BEACH — Katherine Dellinger Morrow, 83, of Lakewood Circle, died Oct. 15, 2003. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today at Beach Chapel. Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m. today at Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Carpenters Funeral Home after the burial.

Born in Cherryville, she was retired from Gaston Memorial Hospital, a member of Socastee United Methodist Church and a former member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Buddy Morrow of Myrtle Beach; five grandchildren, Trent Morrow, Charlie Morrow, Brandy Davis, Ashley Rowell and Chris Rowell and five great-grandchildren.

Doris Degbeh

STANLEY — Doris Jean Lawrence Degbeh, 57, of 407 Mariposa Road, died Oct. 14, 2003. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at New Providence Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at he church.

Born in Bessemer City, she was a U.S. Army veteran, employed as a clerk with the U.S. Postal Service and a member of Morningside Missionary Church.

Survivors include her parents, George and Thelma McGill Lawrence of Stanley; three brothers, James Lawrence of Gastonia; George Lawrence of Memphis, Tenn. and Donald Lawrence of Stanley and four sisters, Betty Stewart of Stanley, Mae Lawrence, Rebecca Isles and Rosie Lawrence all of Stanley.

Ebony & White’s Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

 

Carol Wylie

CHERRYVILLE — Carol Richard Wylie, 45, of 1019 St. Marks Church Road, died Oct. 16, 2003.

Arrangements are incomplete at Carpenters Funeral Home.

 

Fred Williams

MAIDEN — Fred Dwight Williams, 88, of 525 Boyd St., died Oct. 17, 2003.

Arrangements are incomplete at Burke Mortuary.
