Faitha Boyd

HICKORY — Faitha Jane Hooper Boyd, 85, of 1110 Kilby Lane, died Oct. 13, 2003. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Clinton Tabernacle A.M.E. Zion Church, where she was a member. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Born in Cleveland County, she was retired from Century Furniture Company.

Survivors include one daughter, Corean Eskridge of Hickory; 10 grandchildren, Larry Eskridge, John Eskridge, Roger Eskridge, Alton Eskridge, Patricia Eskridge, Brenda Eskridge, Jacob Hogue, Trina Hogue, Jeffrey Norman and Facie Pugh; 24 great-grandchildren and 19 great great-grandchildren.

Ebony & White’s is in charge of arrangements.

 

Carlyle Moore

BESSEMER CITY — Carlyle Moore, 79, of 202 New Moon Lane, died Oct. 12, 2003. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church. Burial followed at Gilkey United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Born in Spartanburg County, SC, he was a self-employed plumber and carpenter.

Survivors include three sons, Frankie Moore and Gary Moore both of Kings Mountain and Warren Moore of Morganton; one daughter, Cynthia Moore of Bessemer City; two brothers, W.C. Moore of Kings Mountain and Tad Moore of Holden Beach; two sisters, Austine Ensley of Kings Mountain and Vera Gibson of Gaffney, SC; five grandchildren, Kelly Reynolds, Jeffrey Tinker, Frankie Moore Jr., Shanna Moore and Jessica Moore; seven great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Joseph Poston

SHELBY — Joseph Allen Poston, 64, of 1105 LaFayette St., died Oct. 13, 2003. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cone Memorial of Carpenters Funeral Home. Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Born in Lake City, SC, he was a retired beautician and nursing assistant and a member of Ranlo Church of God of Phropecy.

Survivors include his wife, Mary McElveene; one daughter, Felisha Dellinger of Sumter, SC; four sons, Wayne Poston of Cherryville, Lewis Poston of Bellwood, Jimmy Poston of Waco and Michael Poston of Casar; 14 grandchildren, Sasha Osada, Laura Poston, Ryan Poston, Jonathan Poston, Greg Poston, Steven Poston, Caleb Poston, Amber Poston, Joseph Poston, Brandon Poston, Anthony Dellinger, Matthew Dellinger, Patrick Dellinger and Nathaniel Dellinger; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Martha Ayers of Cherryville and Carrie Esses of Sasooma, Fla. and two brothers, James Poston of Crossville, Tenn. and Charles Poston of Morganton.

 

William Wentz

CHERRYVILLE — William Lee Wentz, 70, of 5877 Flay Road, died Oct. 13, 2003. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bess Chapel United Methodist Church, where he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 tonight at Carpenters Funeral Home.

Born in Cabarrus County, he was retired from Vermont American as a set-up man.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Beam Wentz of the home; step-mother, Louise Wentz of South Carolina; two daughters, Deborah Brady of Lincolnton and Carol Alexander of Cherryville; two brothers, Cecil Wentz of Huntersville and Lane Wentz of Charlotte; one step-brother, Paul Harrington of Nashville, Tenn.; four step-sisters, Judy Starnes of Spartanburg, SC, Linda Griffin of Florida, Helen Shoe and Betty Kimminger both of Concord; four grandchildren, Susan Farmer, Denny Brady, Mandie Starnes and Carrie Alexander and two great-grandchildren.

Allen Cauley

Allen Ray Cauley, 56, of 229 Blackhawk Road, died Oct. 11, 2003.

Survivors include his mother, Louise Rhew of Wilmington; two children, Michelle Hughes of Wilmington and Benjamin Cauley of Lincolnton; one sister, Angie William of Wilmington; one brother, William Cauley of Wilmington; two grandchildren, Montgomery Hughes and Camden Hughes.

Glenna Greenslet

WESTBOROUGH, MASS.— Glenna Chambers Greenslet, 93, of 1 Lyman St., died Oct. 13, 2003. A private graveside service and burial will be held at Parklawn Cemetery.

Born in Schaghticoke, NY, she was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church and a former Registrar of Probate Court.

Survivors include one daughter, Gail Park of East Dennis, Mass.; two grandchildren, Kristen Graham and Robert Park and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 3 John St., Westborough, Mass. 01581.

Charity Williams

CHERRYVILLE — Charity Rebecca Beam Williams, 84, 111 Harrelson Road, died Oct. 14, 2003. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Cone Memorial Chapel of Carpenters Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mary’s Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Born in Gaston County, she was a member of First Wesleyan Church.

Survivors include one son, Gerald Williams of Long Beach, Calif.; one daughter, Reschia Wagner of Manassas, Va.; two brothers, Don Beam of Kings Mountain and H.L. Beam II of Cherryville; one sister, Jo Anderson of Cherryville and one granddaughter, Chauna Williams.

James Deason

James Edward “Deke” Deason Sr., 88, of 914 Tait St., died Oct. 12, 2003. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Hollybrook Cemetery.

He was U.S. Army Air Corp. WWII veteran and a Master Mason.

Survivors include three sons, Jimmy Deason of Lincolnton, Dan Deason of Burgaw and Mike Deason of Bessemer City; two sisters, Vera Miller of Jacksonville, Ala. and Louise Green of Atlanta, Ga. and five grandchildren.

Doris Degdeh

STANLEY — Doris Jean Mintz-Degdeh, 57, of 407 Mariposa Road, died Oct. 14, 2003.
