Austin Royster
SHELBY — Austin Franklin Royster Sr., 83, of 4232 Fallston Road, died Oct. 1, 2003. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at
Friendship United Methodist Church, where he was a member. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3 p.m. today at the church.
Born in Cleveland County, he was a retired farmer and cattleman.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth “Lib” Botts Royster; one son, Austin Royster Jr. of Blacksburg, S.C.; two daughters, Beth
Tillman of Lawndale and Sheila Peters of Shelby; five grandchildren, Todd Royster, Toby Hoyle, Kelly Mosteller, Tanya Earl and Tad Tillman; five step-grandchildren, Teresa Abernathy, Terry Tillman, Danny Earwood,
Travis Earwood and Crystal Earwood; six great-grandchildren; and eight step great-grandchildren.

Dwight Nixon
STANLEY — Dwight William Nixon Sr., 75, of 2074 June Dellinger Road, died Sept. 30, 2003. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.
Saturday at Ebeneezer UMC, where he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Born in Lincoln County, he was a card operator at J.P. Stevens.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Graham Nixon of Denver; one son, Alfonzo Nixon of Denver; one daughter, Laura Nixon of Denver;
one brother, Erskine Nixon of Denver; one sister, Rosamond Nixon of Denver and one stepson, Donald Graham of Catawba.

Helen Owens
FLORIDA — Helen Owens, 66, of Vero Beach, Fla., died Sept. 27, 2003. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Strunk Funeral
Home. Interment followed in Crestlawn Cemetery.
Born in Lincoln County, she owned and operated Yesteryear Coffee Shop.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Owens of Vero Beach; one son Chris Ingle of Dallas; two daughters, Kim Cabbage of Vero Beach
and Jamie Erlandson of High Shoals; four sisters; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Ruby Caton
CHARLOTTE — Ruby Braddy Caton, 65, died Oct. 1, 2003. A service to celebrate her life will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in McEwen
Funeral Service Charlotte Chapel. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
Born in Cleveland County, she was a member of West Side Baptist Church and was employed by Dr. Edward F. Shaver as an audiologist
and ENG Technician and an office manager for Dr. Eugene Tudor.
Survivors include her mother, Ruth Davis Braddy; one son, James Caton of Charlotte; one daughter, Vickie Tench of Charlotte; one
brother, Bobby Braddy of Lincolnton; five grandchildren, Jenny, Jessy, Joni, Timothy and Nina; and two great-grandchildren.
