Dessie King

DENVER — Dessie Mae Herron King, 83, of Denver, died Sept. 28, 2003. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Thompson Memorial Evangelical Methodist Church, where she was a member. Burial will follow at Webbs Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Born in Swain County, she was retired from Templon Mills as a winder.

Survivors include one son, Charles King of Denver; five daughters, Loletta Marlow of Troutman, Marie Hager, Sue Pulley, Hilda Gaines all of Denver and Dolly Smith of China Grove; one brother, Johnny Herron of Gastonia; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Thompson Memorial Evangelical Methodist Church Community Luncheon Fund, 7465 Forney Hill Road, Denver, NC 28037 or Hospice of Lincoln County, 107 N. Cedar St., Lincolnton, NC 28092.

Cathy Jenkins

CONNELLY SPRINGS — Cathy Juanita Jenkins, 27, of 6439 Maple Grove Avenue, died Sept. 29, 2003. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 tonight at Stamey Funeral Home.

She was born in Cleveland County.

Survivors include her mother and step-father, Margaret and Steve Morrison of Casar; one son, Tyler Shell of the home; one sister, Jennifer Campbell of Maiden and three brothers, John Morrison, Gerrie Morrison and Mark Morrison all of Shelby.

O.B.J. Burson

NEW YORK — Rev. O.B.J. Burson, 80, died Sept. 23, 2003. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Eskridge Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Enloe Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Kathleen Harrill

RALEIGH — Kathleen E. Harrill, 72, died Sept. 28, 2003. A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at The Church of the Good Shepherd. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 tonight at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home.

Survivors include one son, William Harrill, III of Raleigh and four sisters, Thelma Mendenhall of Winston-Salem, Helen Smyre of Durham, Marie Atwood of Kannapolis and Arveta Millsaps of Charlotte.

MOORESVILLE — Dwight William Nixon, 75, died Sept. 30, 2003.
