Margaret Haynes
CHERRYVILLE — Margaret Houser Haynes, 72, of 2543 Lee Bess Road, died July 16, 2002. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. today at North Brook Baptist
Church where she was a member. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Born in Lincoln County, she was a former employee with Shadowline, and worked with the Lincoln County
School System until retirement.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth E. Haynes; a son, Ray Haynes of Cherryville; three daughters,
Patricia Self of Cherryville, Nancy Quinn of Kings Mountain, and Karon Turner of Shelby; a sister, Alma McNeely of Cherryville; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to North Brook Baptist Church, 7421 Flay Rd., Cherryville, N.C. 28021.

Christopher Parks
HUNTERSVILLE — Christopher Lutz Parks, 4, died July 17, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in the chapel at Raymer Funeral Home.
Internment will follow in Mecklenburg Memorial Park. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 at the funeral home.
Survivors include his mother, Maria Owens of Huntersville; his father, Steven Fink of Charlotte; a
sister, Erica Parks of Huntersville; his grandparents, Ralph and Donna Parks of Huntersville, and Kenny and Wanda Swanger of Charlotte; and his great-grandfather, Edward Johnson of Huntersville.
Judy Martin
HICKORY — Judy Kerley Martin, 83, of 742 21st Ave. SW, died July 18, 2002. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. today in Catawba Memorial Park. The
body will lie in state until 2 p.m. today at Burke Mortuary. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
Born in Alexander County, she attended Central Baptist Church, and was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Larry Pitts of Maiden; a daughter, Patricia Kale of Newton; a sister, Dorothy
Sain of Hickory; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Max Simmons
HICKORY — Max Wilburn Simmons, 59, died July 16, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Viewmont Baptist Church where he was a member.
Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 in the Memorial Building of Bass-Smith
Funeral Home.
Born in Caldwell County, he was employed with Rubatex Corporation, and formerly employed as assistant
manager at Hickory Animal Hospital.
Survivors include a son, Matthew Simmons of Hickory; two brothers, Leonard Simmons and Bruce Simmons,
both of Hickory; and two sisters, Lois S. Roseman and Glenda “G.K.” Simmons, both of Hickory.

Willie Boston
MAIDEN — Willie Mae Hayes Boston, 74, of 25 South F Avenue, died July 18, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon Saturday at Goodin-Drum Funeral
Home. Burial will follow in Maiden Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Born in Chester County, S.C., she was a homemaker and a member of Community Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Turner Boston of the home; three daughters, Evelyn Boston, Bertha Jane Boston,
and Betty Logan, all of Lincolnton; three sisters, Carrie Cunningham and Helen Miles, both of Maiden, and Geneva Alexander of Lincolnton; nine grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and five great
great-grandchildren.
Frances Allison
CHARLOTTE — Frances Mundy Smith Allison, 84, died July 18, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the “Chapel in the Oaks” at Harry
& Bryant Company. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends following the service.
Born in Lincoln County, she was employed with Allison Fence Company for 15 years. She was a member of
the Kiwanis Club and Boys Town, including Boys Town Auctions, and Hawthorne Lane United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Ronald E. Smith of Charlotte; two step sons, Graham T. Allison Jr. of Belmont
and James W. Allison of Charlotte; a step daughter, Ginger Allison McGee of Columbia, S.C.; a sister, Betty Jean Mundy Falls Hilton of Lincolnton; a brother, Paul Miller Mundy of Spartanburg, S.C.; and one
grandchild, Jennifer Smith Toke.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Sadé Smith; grandparents, E.L. and Ruby
Abraham Surratt, and J.R. and Lena Litte Ross, all of Shelby; and her great-grandmother, Dora Johnson Ross of Shelby.
