Born in Gaston County, he was a Burlington Mill retiree and a member of the Senior Adult Men’s Sunday School Class at his church.

Rebecca Little of Denver and Tressa Martin of Conover; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Clyde Smith of Cherryville; two sisters, Mandy Mauney of Cherryville and Joyce Leatherman of

IRON STATION — Abner Newell Barker, 82, of 961 Mt. Zion Church Road, died May 13, 2003. Funeral services will 2 p.m. Thursday at Faith Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial will

He was a WWII Army veteran and a retired textile supervisor.

Chris Barker, Darren Smith, Cindy Smith and Ricky Smith; and four great-grandchildren.

Perry Ray Weaver, 46, of 306 Delphi Drive, died May 12, 2003. Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Rhyne Heights United Methodist Church, where he was a member. Burial will

He was employed by Duke Power Company.

Born in Gaston County he was a Sunday School teacher, a U.S. Army WWII veteran and a U.S. Postal Service retiree.

Cherryville; and one sister, Ruby Shoemake of Cherryville.

Born in Cleveland County, he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service and worked for H&R Block Tax Service.

Born in Mulberry, Fla., he was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served during WWII and the Korean and Vietnam wars, a retired teacher
with the Lincoln County Schools and taught the GED course at Lincolnton High School and Lincoln Co. Prison Unit. He was also a District Executive for the Boy Scouts of America.

Born in Cherryville, he was a retired U.S. Postal Service postman, a member of the Cherryville Rotary Club, American Legion Post
100, Cherryville VFW, Past Master of Cherryville Lodge 505 AF&AM, and a member of Scottish Rite Masons Charlotte. He was a lieutenant in the U.S. Army who served during WWII.
Survivors include his wife Rachel Lansing Quinn of the home; two daughters, Friela L. Quinn of Cherryville and Robin Buschemeyer of
Louisville Ky.; and a grandson, Jay Buschemeyer of Louisville, Ky.
