Ruth Tuminaro

Ruth Yvonne Tuminaro, 66, of Fulton Trail, died May 10, 2003. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Westview Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7-9 at the funeral home.

Born in Cornelia, Ga., she was a homemaker.

Survivors include three sons, William Tuminaro of San Martin, Calif., Thomas Tuminaro and Anthony Tuminaro, both of Lincolnton; two brothers, William Scroggs of Charlotte and Robert Scroggs of El Paso, Texas; one sister, Betty Poovey of Vale; three grandchildren, Kristina Marie Tuminaro, Brandon Paul Tuminaro and Cherity Lynn Tuminaro.

Billy Lee

Billy Robert Lee, 69, of 5354 Hickory-Lincolnton Highway, died May 9, 2003. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Catawba Valley Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6-8:30 at Burke Mortuary.

Born in Catawba County, he was a U.S. Army veteran, founder of Lee Boy Paving Products and owner and president of B.R. Lee Products Inc.

Survivors include his wife, Nelda Grigg Lee; three sons; William “Michael” Lee and Robert “Keith” Lee, both of Newton, and Eric Craig Lee of Maiden; one daughter, Teresa “Sissy” Lee Weese of Catawba; two brothers, Willard “Finn” Lee of Maiden and Carroll Lee of Newton; one sister, Dot Lee Lineberger of Maiden; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

CHERRYVILLE — Julia “Judy” Conley Wehunt, 73, of 6743 Clyde Wehunt Road, died May 11, 2003. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at North Brook Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6-7:30 at Carpenter’s Funeral Home.

Born in Bryson City, she was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Clyde Wehunt Jr. and Raymond Wehunt, both of Cherryville; one daughter, Patsy Peeler of Cherryville; one sister, Mildred Putnam of Cherryville; six grandchildren, David Wehunt, Ryan Peeler, Michelle Price, Ryan Perkins, Amy Smith and Kevin Auten; and four great-grandchildren.

Francis Sibert

BRIDGEWATER, Va. — Francis Eidson “Ed” Sibert, 86, of 102 West Rainbow Drive, died May 3, 2003. Funeral services were held May 5 at 10 a.m. at Craigsville Presbyterian Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Born in Fordwick, Va. he was a former deacon of Craigsville Presbyterian Church, a charter member of Craigsville Volunteer Fire Department, was employed at Lehigh Portland Company and retired from AMF in Richmond, Va.

Survivors include three sons, Wayne Sibert of Lincolnton, William Sibert of Staunton, Va. and Richard Sibert of Richmond, Va.; five grandchildren, Chad Sibert, David Sibert, Sharon Jefferson, Michelle Sibert and Stewart Sibert; and three step-great-grandchildren.

MORGANTON — Odell Bumgarner Foss, 76, of Old Creek Road, died May 9, 2003. Funeral services will be today at 3 p.m. at Mount Home Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.

Born in Burke County, she was retired from Roses.

Survivors include one son, Leon Foss of Morganton; one daughter, Rosalita Rufty of Denver; three brothers, Eli Bumgarner, Robert Bumgarner and Johnny Bumgarner, all of Morganton; one sister, Betty McKee of Morganton; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Iva Isabella Dale Walker, 92, of Burkemont Road, died May 9, 2003. A graveside service was held today at 11 a.m. at Burke Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born in Burke County, she was a member of Burkemount Baptist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Ella Mae Waynick of Lincolnton, Catherine Powell of Morganton, Pauline Denton of Garden City, S.C. and Ruth Sheffield of Morganton; one sister, Estelene Melton of Morganton; one brother, Luther Dale of Morganton; six grandsons, Howard Waynick Jr., Larry Waynick, Todd Powell, Brad Powell, Craig Denton and Randall Sheffield; three granddaughters, Alisa Williams, Jana Lingafeldt and Kristen Sheffield; and six great-grandchildren.

Carroll Gunter

BESSEMER CITY — Carroll Edward “Carl” Gunter, 56, of 661 St. Mark’s Road, died May 10, 2003. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the Woodlawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Gardens with military honors by the Gaston Co. Last Man’s Club. The family will receive friends tonight from 7-9 at the funeral home.

Born in Mecklenburg County, he served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.

Survivors include one sister, Louise Jones of Bessemer City; and two brothers, Rev. David R. Gunter of Denver and Richard A. Gunter of Davidson.

Harold Bowen

Harold Mitchell Bowen, 63, of 7913 Cherry Point Drive, died May 9, 2003. Funeral services will be held today at 3 p.m. at the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Gaston Memorial Park, with military honors conducted by the Gaston Co. Last Man’s Club.

Born in Gaston County, he was a retired supervisor with Pharr Yarns, a member of Lake Norman Church of God and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife Carletty Poole Bowen; two sisters, Vergie Patterson of McAdenville and Jerrie Bridges of Gastonia; and two brothers, Bobby Bowen of Cramerton and Terry Bowen of Lincolnton.

Charles Edward Lightfoot, 75, of 233 Lake Sylvia Road, died May 11, 2003.

Edgar Gilbert

CROUSE — Edgar Harlen Gilbert, 68, of 2581 Hwy. 150 West, died May 7, 2003. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the New Life Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born in Catawba County, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife Joyce Long Gilbert; five daughters, Crystal Raborn and Lisa May Young, both of Crouse, Donna D. Gilbert and Sherry Anne Lail, both of Lincolnton, and Tara D. Childers of Newton; four brothers, Bobby Gilbert of Vale, Jerry Gilbert of Cherryville, Wayne Gilbert of Crouse and Charles T. Gilbert of Lincolnton; five sisters, Louise Jordan of Iron Station, Peggy Crouse of Crouse, Clara Long of Lincolnton, Rickie Bardgett of Crouse and Annie Whisnant of Vale; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
