Helen Hawn

WINSTON-SALEM — Helen Rusisill Hawn, 94, of Prince Nursing Care Center, died May 6, 2003. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today at Augsburg Lutheran Church, where she was a member. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park.

Born in Catawba County she served as director of the Christmas Cheer Toy Shop and volunteered with numerous community groups.

Survivors include one daughter, Jo Ann Helms of Advance; one son, Robert G. Hawn of Wilmington; six grandchildren, Caroline Letts, Mary Kimmons Shouse, Joby Hawn, Diane Helms, Betsy Ratliff and Vance Helms; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Irene Saunders of Lincolnton and Lib Beam of Cherryville.

Memorials may be made to Augsburg Lutheran Church Building Fund, 845 West 5th Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.

Mike Flynn-Vogler & Son’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

 

James Heavner

VALE — James Adolphus “Jr.” Heavner Jr., 70, of 3208 Wyant Road, died May 6, 2003. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. today at Crowell United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Born in Catawba County he was a retired farmer.

Survivors include five brothers, Ray Heavner of Decatur, Tenn., Joe Heavner of Maiden, Edward Heavner of Homestead, Fla., and Carol Heavner and Randy Heavner, both of Lincolnton; six sisters, Louise Finger of Vale, Kat Reynolds of Montrey, Calif., Mary Shook of Maiden, Ruby Canipe and Judy Mosteller, both of Lincolnton, and Helen Rogers of Walled Lake, MI.

Warlick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Inez Leonhardt

JENSEN BEACH, Fla. — Inez Holly Leonhardt, 85, of Jensen Beach, died April 29, 2003. Inurnment will be at a later date in All Saints Cemetery.

Born in Lincoln County, N.C., she was a nurse and ran an auto parts business. She was also worked in a squadron for Goodyear Aircraft, Akron, Ohio during WWII.

Survivors include her husband Robert Jefferson Leonhardt of Jensen Beach; one daughter, Carole Tilton of Port St. Lucie; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of All County Funeral Home and Creamatory, Treasure Coast Chapel, Stuart.

 

Jettie Hoyle

MAIDEN — Jettie Sue Lovelace Hoyle, 79, of 802 S. “D” Ave., died May 8, 2003. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Maiden City Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service.

She was born in Rutherford County.

Survivors include four sons, Billy Hoyle of Conover; Tommy Hoyle of Maiden; Peter Franklin Hoyle, Jr. of Denver and Donald Lee Hoyle of Vale; three daughters, Donna Hoyle Stollings and Donnis Hoyle Walker both of Maiden and Doris Cook Waycaster of Hickory; one brother, Jim Lovelace of Cherryville; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Lincoln County, 107 N. Cedar Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092.

Burke Mortuary in Maiden is in charge of arrangements.

 

W.D. Moser Jr.

CHERRYVILLE — Rev. William Dexter Moser Jr., 85, died May 7, 2003. Funeral services were today at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, where he was a member.

Born in Burlington he served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He served a pastor of churches in North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and Texas and in numerous other capacities within the Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife Elizabeth Cobb Moser; two sons, Ronald Dexter Moser of Columbia, SC and Dr. Davis Denton Moser of Memphis, TN; one daughter, Beth Moser Wilburn of Columbia, TN; seven grandchildren, Wendy Moser Ruocco; Terro Moser; Emily Moser; Elizabeth Moser; Aaron Wilburn; Lauren Wilburn and  Neil Wilburn; two great-grandchildren, Anthony Ruocco and Ronald Ruocco; one brother, Beverly Moser; and two sisters, Virginia Simpson and Barbara McClintock.

Memorials may be made to Renovation Fund, St. John’s Lutheran Church, PO Box 100, Cherryville, NC 28021.
