CHERRYVILLE — J. D. Rice, 69, of 121 Delmac Drive, died Jan. 19, 2004. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cone Memorial
Chapel of Carpenters Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Westview Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Born in Buncombe County, he was the retired owner and operator of Rice & Sons Garage and a member of Mountain View Agape Church.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Hunter Rice of the home; two sons, David Rice of Mars Hill and Chuck Rice of Crouse; two
daughters, Teresa Clubb of Bessemer City and Debbie Wilcox of Ritter, SC; six sisters, Ester Evans and Ruth Rice both of Weaverville, Viola Rogers and Nancy Lusford both of Asheville, Ruby McIntyre of Alexander and
Thelma Clark of Arden; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

SHERRILLS FORD — Thomas Robert Sherrill Sr., 86, of 7159 Sherrills Ford Road, died Jan. 20, 2004. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m.
Friday at Hopewell United Methodist Church, where he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military grave rites by American Legion Post 16. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m.
Friday at the church.
Born in Catawba County, he was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran and a retired brick mason.
Survivors include four sons, Thomas Sherrill of Md., Robert Sherrill Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., Rick Sherrill of Sherrills Ford and
Randy Sherrill of Newton; two brothers, Bill Sherrill of Kannapolis and Kermit Sherrill of Newton; three sisters, Nevada Benfield of Statesville, Maudina Sherrill and Betty Bolick both of Sherrills Ford; 11
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Corena Murray Trent, 71, of Lincolnton, died Jan. 19, 2004. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Lutheran
Church. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Friday at Warlick Funeral Home.
Born in Morganton, she was a real estate broker.
Survivors include two sons, Frank Trent of Lakewood, Colo. and Brian Trent of Lincolnton; one daughter, Teresa Higginbotham of
Houston, Texas and three grandchildren, Thomas Higginbotham, Andrew Higginbotham and Mary Kate Higginbotham.
