Lights out

Power to some downtown businesses, residences and traffic signals had to be cut off Thursday following a wreck that morning that broke a power pole. Adam Braddy, 19, was traveling east on Water Street when he tried to beat a red light, police reports state. A car driven by Pearl Goins, 76, was traveling south on Cedar Street. She passed through the intersection, stating she had a green light, and struck Braddy's truck. The truck spun and hit the pole, breaking it in two places. Paint and tools flew out of the truck's bed, and a saw landed on the hood of a parked vehicle. Braddy has been charged with a red light violation, according to reports. Power crews worked throughout the day to replace the pole and restore power.  (Photo by Diane Turbyfill / Lincoln Times-News)
