Lincoln County water customers will notice some changes in their September bills.
The bills, which used to be perforated post cards, will now be a full-page that officials call “more customer friendly.”
Steve Gilbert, director of public utilities, said the new bills will have larger type and be more legible. They will also have a tear-off section and return envelope.
The new return method will be easier for customers, county staff and postal employees, Gilbert said.
“We think that’s going to help a lot,” he said.
The new format will make it possible for water department officials to insert extra information in customers’ bills.
The post-card method allowed for only a line of extra time telling customers to call the office for more information.
Information on water restrictions, water quality reports and news from the department can be slipped in the same envelope as the bill, Gilbert said, saving a separate mailing.
“It will allow us to put inserts in the bills when we have information we want to get out to the customers,” Gilbert said.
The department had received some complaints from customers who said they never received their bill, Gilbert said.
“Sometimes those small postcards would get lodged in the mail,” he said.
The revamped bills will be more uniform and easier on postal service employees, Gilbert said.
