The long-awaited Zippers Restaurant and Bar will have its grand opening Monday in Lincolnton, in the same spot where a Burger King once stood.

Bobby Motz, one of three co-owners of the restaurant, said he is pleased with the restaurant’s placement.

“This location will give us the kind of clientele we are looking for,” Motz said. “Our restaurant will be a real asset to the community; this is a family-oriented restaurant, with food at the top of the line.”

The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and supper, and features a menu of T-bone and ribeye steaks.

Ralph Rudisill, another co-owner, said he is looking forward to greeting the public once the restaurant is open.

“I have done a lot of bartending,” he said. “I like being around people.”

In order to prepare for Monday’s opening, the staff has many tasks to complete, including remodeling in the kitchen.

“We are getting everything ready to open up,” said Lynn Fulbright, manager. “There are a lot of things to do.”

Construction of the restaurant has been going on for two weeks and is nearing completion. The construction crew from L&K Builders in Lincolnton is working on a lounge area located on the side of the restaurant, where the bar will be located. The lounge area is not set to open for another month.

“There will be bar stools, TV’s and more tables in the lounge area,” Fulbright said. “Customers can take their food and go eat in the lounge if they choose to.”

There are also plans to build a patio off of the lounge.

Once it opens, tentative hours for the restaurant will be from 6 a.m to 12:30 a.m. Hours will possibly be lengthened following completion of the lounge.

Applications are now being accepted for cook and server positions.

For more information call 704-732-1212 for the restaurant or 704-732-1226 for the lounge.
