The media got a chance to kick their feet back Monday, at the second annual cruise on Lake Norman.
The day was hosted by the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureau. It included a bus tour and a yacht cruise on the lake.
“The media is always working so hard,” said Sally Ashworth, Executive Director of the Lake Norman Convention and Visitors Bureau. “They need a day to just take a break.”
The start of the day began with a hop aboard the bright red “Party Bus,” complete with rope lighting, neon graffiti and a bubble lamp, for a tour of all the hot spots in the area.
First stop was Jetton Park. Tracey Bethune, with Allan Tate Realty, gave a tour of what the park had to offer.
“This is the largest waterfront park in the area,” she said. “It is 106 acres.”
The park features picnic areas, playgrounds, and boat access.
Second stop was the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce, moving on to a driving tour of Davidson College, the town of Cornelius and Huntersville‘s Birkdale Village, a mixed-use shopping
center and residential area.
Once aboard the 67 foot “Yachta, Yachta, Yachta,” a two story boat featuring a full party deck, there was time to mingle, enjoy food, drinks, and shag dancing.
Sharon Simpson, Publisher of Lake Norman Magazine, did not hesitate getting on the dance floor. She kicked off her shoes and found several dance partners.
Bill Russell, President of the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce, also took a turn and shag danced with Ashworth.
With familiar faces, great food and not a sign of rain, the day was a huge success.
