From staff reports
The Lincoln County Historical Association is quickly approaching two important deadlines.
The association is working on two publications that will feature articles and photographs of Lincoln County families, businesses, industries, churches, civic organizations and special
events from the mid-19th century to present.
The first publication, “Lincoln County Heritage Book, Volume II,” will feature 500-word articles and accompany photographs from individuals and families that have roots in Lincoln
County, and those who are new to the county.
Articles can feature specific people, events, reminiscences, occurrences, phenomena and other situations that pertain to Lincoln County.
Family history articles are also needed. Pieces may feature families from the 1800s to present.
Anyone who would like to submit information but needs help writing the article may contact Jason Harpe, director of the Lincoln County History Museum.
Those interested in purchasing the publication may place orders now for $50. After the July 1 deadline, books will cost $60.
Some of the families already participating include Carpenter, Craig, Jonas, Lohr, Bangle, Yoder, Warlick, Blackburn, Abernethy, Fulenwider, Gilbert, Burgin, Hauss, Lantz, Hull,
Harbinson, Long, Huffman, Wehunt, Weaver, Wesson, Parker and Smith.
The second publication, “Images of America: Lincoln County Revisited,” is a photograph retrospective of Lincoln County. Volume I from this series was written by members of the Lincoln
County Historical Association and published by Arcadia Publishing in 2000.
Volume II will include up to 240 photographs of family, groups, individuals, family reunions, church groups, athletic groups and special events from Lincoln County’s past. The 150-page
soft-cover book will be available by Christmas.
For more information about either of these publications, contact Jason Harpe at 704-748-9090.
