A 2,520-square-foot metal building and the relocation of a house are up for public hearing at tonight’s Board of Commissioners meeting.
The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Commissioners Room. Only six items comprise the agenda, and the meeting is slated to run until 7:45 p.m.
The first application is for a change to a conditional use permit to allow the expansion of a machine shop in the General Business district.
The machine shop is located on a .64-acre parcel at 4866 East N.C. 27 in Iron Station.
A conditional use permit was approved in 1997 to allow an old store building to be used as a shop. The business makes running boards for classic automobiles.
The applicant, Donald Hill, wants to construct a 2,520-square-foot metal building to expand the business.
The second hearing is for the request rezoning of .75 acres from General Industrial to Transitional Residential.
The property is located on the north side of Old Plank Road about 3,200 feet west of N.C. 16.
The applicant, Russell Dellinger, plans to buy the property and combine it with two residential lots he owns to create three lots.
A duplex and a house are located on the two existing lots.
Dellinger stated that he plans to move a house from the corner of Old Plank Road and N.C. 16 and place it on the new lot.
Also on the agenda, Commissioners will set the date for the public hearing on the proposed 2003-04 budget for 7 p.m. June 16.
The proposed budget includes a 4 cent raise in property taxes but keeps other rates the same.
The board has a work session scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
