LNMRC opens new endroscopy center
June 5, 2002 - MOORESVIILLE — Lake Norman Regional Medical Center’s new Endoscopy Center has opened in the Medical Pavilion at Lake Norman, 156 Centre
Church Road, Suite 101.
The center includes 11 prep and recovery stations, all new equipment such as scopes and cameras, and data processing units. The center is staffed by
seven RNs, four endoscopy technologists, one secretary and is managed by Tamara Hinceman, RN. It is utilized by board certified gastroenterologists, surgeons, and internal medicine physicians.
Endoscopy procedures encompass everything from colonoscopies and upper endoscopies to ERCPs (examining the gallbladder, pancreas and liver) and PEGs (inserting
feeding tubes).
The procedures also include removing swallowed coins, buttons and teeth. The average procedure takes approximately 30 minutes from start to finish.
During procedures, patients are moderately sedated. A physician performs the procedures, with two nurses or a nurse and a technologist assisting.
“The number of endoscopy procedures at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center has continuously grown as the awareness of colorectal cancer has increased,”
Hinceman says. “The endoscopy expansion reflects the health care needs of our community.”
Endoscopy procedures must be physician-approved and are scheduled through physicians’ offices.
Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, a 117-bed hospital located directly off of I-77 at Exit 33 in Mooresville, provides health care to the Lake Norman area.
