Child booster seats available to families

May 20, 2002 - Three Lincoln County agencies are making child booster seats more accessible to low-income families.
The United Way of Lincoln County, Lincoln County Health Department and the Lincoln County Fire Marshall’s Office are distributing 200 seats locally through the
Boost America program. Ford Motor Company and the International Center for Injury Prevention are also helping sponsor the giveaway.
Booster seats are recommended for children who weigh between 40 and 80 pounds and who are between 42 and 60 inches tall.
Applications for seats will be taken May 28 at the health department from 8 to 10:30 a.m. and 1 to 3:30 p.m.
The seats will be installed May 30 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Bank of America parking lot located adjacent to the courtsquare. Under the program, the seats must be installed by certified technicians.
Under the income requirements, a two-person family with an annual income of under $28,125 is eligible. A family of three may make under $35,375 and a family of
four, under $42,625.
