Most wanted

Officials say pair are ‘armed and dangerous’

By COURTNEY MARTIN, LTN Staff Writer

April 26, 2002 - Lincolnton Police are looking for two suspects allegedly involved in a March 8 armed robbery and kidnapping.

Darriel Theracon Williams, 22, is a black male standing at 5 foot 7 inches and weighing 179 lbs.

Michael Jackie Evans, 23, is also a black male, standing 6 feet tall and weighing 159 lbs. He has a tattoo on both arms: an “M” on the right arm and an “E” on the left arm.

“They are armed and they are dangerous,” said Lt. Dean Abernathy. “They’ve been seen in the area.”

The pair were last seen in the Pine Street area two weeks ago. There have also been sightings of them in Gastonia.

Both men have previously been convicted of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

One suspect in the armed robbery and kidnapping, Stacy Jerrod Anderson, 25, of 249 Hill Top Road, was arrested March 18. He was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and second degree kidnapping. He was jailed under a $150,000 secured bond. He made bond and has been released.

The March 8 incident occurred at the Woodhill Apartment of one of the victims.

The two victims were acquainted with the suspects and let them in the apartment.

The three men held the man and woman at gun point while the house was searched.

The men allegedly took $400 in cash and $450 in property from the victims.

Anderson, Evans and Williams took the male victim outside and across the street while they got into their vehicle and drove away, said Abernathy. This was so the victim could not alert authorities or get a weapon of his own.

Sunday night, following the robbery, the woman’s house on Openview Drive was shot at and on Monday night gun shots were fired at several apartments in the complex where the man lived.

Officers believe the incidents are related, but do not have evidence to make the charges.

“We think they did it to intimidate the victims,” said Abernathy.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Lincolnton Police Department at 704-736-8900.
