Woman charged in 3-vehicle wreck
From staff reports
March 27, 2002 - A Stanley woman was charged with driving while impaired following a wreck Monday that sent four people to the hospital. None was
seriously injured.
Megan Payseur, 22, was driving a 1995 Honda Civic east on N.C. 27 around 1 p.m. when she reached into the back seat to give food to her 2-year-old daughter,
according to the state Highway Patrol. Payseur lost control, swerving into the left lane and hit a 1995 Ford truck driven by Carmen Fingh of Iron Station. The truck crashed into a ditch, but Fingh was not injured.
As Payseur came off the collision she swerved into oncoming traffic again, hitting a 2000 Ford head-on.
The driver, Mary Hailey, and her daughter, Donna, both of Stanley, were taken to Lincoln Medical Center, treated and released.
Payseur was taken to Gaston Memorial Hospital with minor lacerations. Her daughter, who was in a child safety seat, suffered only slight bruises.
In addition to being charged with driving while impaired, Payseur was charged with having an open container of alcohol in the car and careless and reckless driving.
