Lincoln campaign exceeds goal

March 22, 2002 - Lincoln County United Way celebrated meeting its fund-raising goal victory Wednesday.
The 2001 campaign exceeded its goal by 16 percent, raising $435,195.
“It was a really great effort by all concerned,” campaign Chairman Seth Haney told supporters and recipient agencies during an annual meeting and luncheon at
Verdict Ridge Golf and Country Club.
Haney praised agency Director Rhonda Sigmon, who took that post last year.
“I can’t say enough about what Rhonda has done as the new executive director,” he said.
Sigmon began holding regular breakfast meetings with member agencies, getting their feedback and enlisting a more active role in fund-raising.
Sigmon told the crowd that the United Way is stepping up its efforts to let the community know about its mission. Volunteers have distributed information at
area festivals.
The agency is also expanding its role beyond fund-raising.
“We’re trying to find different ways to make the United Way more than a fund-raising tool,” she said.
Board president Pete Acker praised the agency’s leadership, team work and communication.
The United Way will kick-off its 2002 Pacesetter campaign July 17 and its overall campaign Aug. 27.
