EMS responds to several emergencies during weekend
By ALICE SMITH, Staff Writer
An Iron Station man was killed Sunday evening after his motorcycle collided with an SUV in eastern Lincoln County.
And public safety agencies also responded to several other emergencies this weekend, including another motorcycle wreck and a man who suffered severe burns.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol did not have the fatality victims name available for release this morning.
The wreck happened at 6:29 p.m. near 7672 Campground Road.
The 41-year-old motorcyclist appeared to have been traveling west on Campground Road when he collided head-on with a Ford SUV traveling east on the road, said Mike Keller, operations
manager with Lincoln County EMS.
Four people in the SUV had to be transported to the hospital, Keller said.
A 42-year-old female and 4-year-old male were taken by the East Lincoln Rescue Squad to Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.
A 33-year-old male and 6-year-old male were transported by EMS to Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.
All four patients were in stable condition, Keller said.
Wreck reports from the Highway Patrol were unavailable at presstime.
Emergency agencies also responded to several other calls this weekend.
A 54-year-old man had to be flown to Chapel Hills burn center after suffering burns in his western Lincoln County home.
The mans bedding and clothing appeared to have caught on fire, Keller said.
He was found in a critical state upon the arrival of emergency crews.
A 38-year-old man was taken to Lake Norman Regional Medical Center Sunday after an accident while riding his motorcycle off-road. The wreck happened at 1944 Forrest Ridge Drive in
Denver.
Keller said the cooperation amongst the agencies involved was crucial to meeting the patients needs during the busy weekend.
EMS would have had a difficult time working all the calls had it not been for West Lincoln Rescue Squad, Lincoln County Lifesaving and East Lincoln Rescue Squad, Keller said.
EMS, the rescue squads and the fire departments all worked excellently together, Keller said.
