Killer still sought in barbershop shooting

LTN Staff Writer

January 1, 2003 - Police are still looking for a man who is charged with first degree murder following a shooting Saturday at a local barbershop.

Detectives at the Lincolnton Police Department are asking anyone who is aware of Alvin Dwight Fair’s whereabouts to contact them.

Police are circulating several pictures of Fair. A different picture was run in Monday’s Lincoln-Times News.

Fair, 22, is a black male, 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs between 150 and 170 pounds.

Fair’s last known address is 2357 Lake St., Lincolnton.

He should be considered armed and dangerous.

Fair is charged with first degree murder for the shooting death of Jacques Tremayne Shipp, a 24-year-old Lincolnton resident.

Police said Fair was inside the Gentlemen’s Choice Barbershop, 1308 North Aspen St., Saturday.

That’s when Shipp walked in, police said, and a scuffle ensued.

Fair then allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot Shipp. Police are not releasing information as to what type of gun Fair allegedly used.

Shipp was taken to Lincoln Medical Center by patrons at the barbershop. He died at the hospital.

Calls to Gentlemen’s Choice Barbershop by the Lincoln Times-News were not returned Tuesday.

Anyone with information should call the Lincolnton Police Department at 704-736-8900.
