Workshops scheduled
From staff reports
Jan. 30, 2002 - The Lincoln County Fire Marshall will hold three workshops on open burning regulations in the next couple of weeks.
The first will be on Jan. 31 at the Denver Volunteer Fire Department, the second on Feb. 11 at the Howard’s Creek Volunteer Fire Department and the third will
be Feb. 14 in the Senior Center at the Lincoln Campus of Gaston College. The workshops are scheduled for 7 p.m. on all three dates.
The workshop will cover what can be burned and what can not burn.
The state open-burning rule is simple: only leaves, branches and other plant growth can be burned.
It will cover local and state regulations as well as permit requirements.
Illegal open burning in North Carolina can bring you a fine of up to $1,000.
