Wayne Beam
Wayne C. Beam, 84, of 2096 Oklahoma Court, died July 2, 2004. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Second Baptist Church in Cherryville, where he was a member. Burial followed in Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery.
Born in Lincoln County, he was retired from NCDMV as a road foreman and was a volunteer with the Cherryville Area Ministries.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Hallman of the home; four grandchildren, Tammy Carter, Harry Hallman Jr., Joey Watkins and Donna Putnam; 10 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church, 201 Houser St., Cherryville, NC 28021.

Coreen Black
CHERRYVILLE — Coreen Carpenter Black, 91, formerly of S. Pink Street, died July 2, 2004. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial will follow in the Black Family Cemetery of the City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
She was born in Cherryville.
Survivors include a son, Sonny Black of Charlotte; a daughter, Betty Smith of Hickory; 12 grandchildren, Barry and Tabatha Deal, Gary and Tiffany Crump, Rob and Tandy Forth, Tatum Black, Tammy and Robin Soots, Toby and Kim Smith and Tracy Smith; and eight great-grandchildren.

Doris Moore
NEWTON — Doris Cora Elizabeth Locke Moore, 74, of East 1st St., died July 2, 2004. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Burke Mortuary Chapel in Newton. Burial will follow in Eastview City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Born in McDowell County, she was retired from Clyde Fabrics/Dixie Yarns and was a member of North Newton Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Clinton H. Moore of the home; two daughters, Kathy Beard of Denver, Colo. and Kimberly Moore of Hickory; three sons, Thomas Moore, Michael Moore and Kevin Moore, all of Newton; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mary Willis
CHERRYVILLE — Mary Ann McGinnis Willis, 72, of 401 W. Academy St., died July 4, 2004. A memorial service will be held at 7 tonight at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Born in Lancaster County, S.C., she was employed by Carolina Freight Carriers Corporation and was a member of Hardin Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Roy Willis of Cherryville; two sons, Douglas McGinnis of Statesville and Todd McGinnis of Bessemer City; a brother, Joseph Caskey of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; five grandchildren, Casey Arrowood, Brooke Harris, Amber Jackson, Tara McGinnis and Justin McGinnis; and three great-grandchildren.

Clarence Kiser
BESSEMER CITY — Clarence William Kiser, 88, of 180 Kiser Street, died July 3, 2004. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethel Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 tonight at Carpenters Funeral Home.
Born in Gaston County, he was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran and was retired from Reeves Brothers, Inc., Osage Manufacturing Division.
Survivors include three daughters, Ann Killian and Elaine Kiser, both of Bessemer City, and Barbara Farnsworth of Lincolnton; nine grandchildren, Tina Bridges, Mark Bridges, Scott Bridges, Amanda Cartwright, Wendy Stinnette, Jody Kiser, Lori Merrow, Bill Farnsworth and Dawn Whitworth; 15 great-grandchildren and a sister, Betty Carpenter of Dallas.

David Gibson
MAIDEN — David Lee Gibson Sr., 40, of Providence Mill Road, died July 3, 2004. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witnesses in Newton.
He was born in Danville, Va.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Webb Gibson; three sons, David Gibson Jr. of Newton, Richard Gibson and Joshua Gibson, both of the home; a daughter, Tonya Wehnau of Newton; his father and step-mother, John and Mary Gibson of Ohio; his mother and step-father, Lois and Maurice Davis of West Virginia; three brothers and four sisters.

Brian Bridges
POLKVILLE — Robert Brian Bridges, 29, of 1451 Fletcher Road, died July 3, 2004. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Born in Rutherford County, he was employed by Keystone Powdered Metal Company.
Survivors include his father, Billy Bridges of Polkville; his mother, Sandra Shelnutt of Casar; a son, Robbie Bridges Jr. of the home; a daughter, Savannah Bridges of the home; and his grandparents, Eula Bridges of Polkville and Iona Fortenberry of Casar.

CORNELIUS — Eudine “Deanie” McConnell Griffith, 80, died July 1, 2004. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Born in Cornelius, she was past president of WOC and O.D. (older adults) and was a member of the FW Kiker Sunday school class.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Griffith; a son, Garry Griffith of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a daughter, Cindy Ray of Cornelius; and seven grandchildren, Rusty Ray, Benjamin Ray, Philip Ray, Daniel Ray, Anna Griffith, Becky Griffith and Nathan Griffith.

Angela Marie Freeman, 17, of 175 Forest Road, died July 3, 2004. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at New Heights Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 tonight at Warlick Funeral Home.
Survivors include her parents, Raymond L. Freeman and Lynn P. Freeman of the home; a sister, Chyanne Freeman of the home; her grandparents, Robert and Jackie Freeman of Lincolnton and Jerry and Brenda Page of Bessemer City; and her great-grandfather, Edward George of Dallas.

VALE — Dena Johnson Leatherman, 35, of 3322 Dansbury Lane, died July 3, 2004. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hull’s Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 tonight at the church.
Born in Cleveland County, she was a registered nurse at Frye Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include her husband, Randy Leatherman of the home; a son, Jesse Ramsey of the home; a daughter, Kelsey Goins of the home; her parents, Jimmie and Barbara Burgess Johnson of Hickory; a brother, Kevin Johnson of Hickory; a sister, Brandi Helton of Hickory; and her grandparents, Jimmie and Juanita Johnson of Vale.

Virginia Helms Ramseur, 88, of 434 E. Congress St., died July 3, 2004. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery.
Born in Union County, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was retired from Lincolnton Savings and Loan.
Survivors include a granddaughter, Michelle Wright of Lincolnton; a grandson, Monty Dyson of Achorage, Alaska; and four great-grandchildren.

Florence Keener
Florence Farmer Keener, 90, of the Brian Center, formerly of Buffalo Shoals Road, died July 2, 2004. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today at Gainsville Baptist Church. Burial followed in Hollybrook Cemetery.
Born in Lincoln County, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Clark Keener of Sherrills Ford and Charlie Keener of Lincolnton; a daughter, Doris McMurry of Lincolnton; a brother, Clyde Farmer of Cherryville; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
