Staff report
North Lincoln’s boys indoor track team finished in second place at the North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s 1A/2A/3A state championship meet at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem on Saturday.
North Lincoln sent 11 runners to the meet — the most qualifiers in school history — and finished only nine points behind Cummings. North Lincoln took first and second place in the 1,600-meter run. Andrew Fea’s 4:27 time was good enough to make him the first male state track champion in North Lincoln history. Josh Mosteller finished second in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:29.
Ryan Shannon took fifth place in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 9:48, despite losing a shoe to another runner’s cleats on the first lap.
Allie Castro finished fourth in the girls 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:35, enough to earn her sixth All-State honor of her career. Caitlin Potter finished fourth in the 1,000-meter run.
East Lincoln’s Jesse Earnhardt earned All-State recognition and finished in fourth place in the long jump.
