County Commissioners to conduct hearings on zoning requests

Public hearings on various zoning requests will be conducted during tonight’s meeting of the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners.
The first request, from Strata Solar, is regarding a conditional-use permit to establish a solar-power generation facility. The proposed 35-acre site is located on Tripple H Lane, about 1,200 feet west of Maiden Highway in Lincolnton Township.
Another conditional-use permit request will be heard to allow the placement of a manufactured home on a 1-acre parcel of land located off Loop Road, roughly 600 feet north of the intersection of Loop Road and Brent Trail in Ironton Township.
A final zoning hearing will be conducted for a request to rezone 1 acre, located at 2573 E. N.C. 150 in Ironton Township, from residential single-family to office-residential. The property is just east of Medical Center Drive.
In addition to these zoning requests, a public hearing will also be conducted on the previously presented Comprehensive Transportation Plan for the Lincolnton Urban Area.
Other items on tonight’s Board of Commission meeting agenda include:

• Library Director Jennifer Sackett will do a presentation on the Charles R. Jonas Library’s renovations, for which it recently received the 2011-2012 “Outstanding Remodel Facility” award.
• Commissioners will consider scheduling a public hearing for their Feb. 4 meeting on the construction of a speculative building in the Airlie Industrial Park.
• Commissioners will be asked to approve the compensation for members of the Lincoln County ABC Board, at the recommendation of County Manager George Wood.
• Recommendations from the Planning Board will be presented.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Citizens Center and is open to the public. After wrapping up business, the board will then recess until 6 p.m. Thursday, when it will hold a joint meeting with the Board of Education at its administrative building on North Generals Boulevard in Lincolnton.
