A Lincoln County man accused of rape is set to appear in court today.
Deputies apprehended Gary Michael McNabb, 45, of 1831 Highway 150 West in Lincolnton, around 5 p.m. Friday on the CSX Railroad tracks near the intersection of Boy Scout Road in Crouse, a Sheriff’s Office press release said.
Earlier on Friday, the Sheriff’s Office issued a press release with McNabb’s physical description, alerting the public that the suspect could be a potential threat to citizens.
Law enforcement officers considered McNabb “dangerous” due to his background in martial arts and statements to deputies that he was anti-government and wouldn’t be apprehended, the release said.
He is accused of a rape on May 16, the Sheriff’s Office said, and remains in the Harven A. Crouse Detention under a $250,000 bond.
