Kathleen Barker Sherrill
Kathleen Barker Sherrill, 84, of Denver passed away on November 18, 2012 at her residence. She was born in Lincoln County on August 6, 1928 to the late Jonor and Annie Bell Hager Barker. Ms. Sherrill enjoyed spending time with her family and all were well fed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Sherrill.
She is survived by her children, Anne Kelly (Michael), Bill Sherrill (Susie), Allen Sherrill and Janet Folsom; eight grandchildren, Angie McCollum, Kristy Thompson, Jeff Sherrill, Kim Stamey, Scott Sherrill, Dana Sherrill, Erica Cooke and Monica Montanari; ten great-grandchildren, Brayden Sherrill, Taylor, Zack, Hailee Stamey, Kasen Sherrill, Trevor Hughes, Evan and Emma Montanari, Tyler and Chase Cooke; sisters, Myrtle Robinson, Elsie Lucky, Novalee Barber, Mary Underwood, Merleen White.
The family received friends at Webb’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 4640 Webb’s Chapel Church Road in Denver on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held today at 11 a.m. at Webb’s Chapel United Methodist Church with burial following in the church cemetery.

Adam Dale Owens
Adam Dale Owens, age 33, passed away on November 1, 2012 at the Brian Center of Mooresville.
Adam’s passing was the result of being struck by an automobile driver while living his passion for riding his motorcycle on October 23, 2011. Adam was loved by those who knew him and by those who cared for him during the last year while he was a resident at the Brian Center of Mooresville. Adam leaves many with a hole in their hearts, but all his friends and relatives take comfort in knowing that a new angel is looking down on them from Heaven on high.
Adam was born in Spartanburg, S.C. to Connie Bennett Deason and Samuel Holland Owens on March 8, 1979.
Surviving him are his beloved mother, Connie Deason, step-father, Tommy Deason; daughter, Mary McKenzie Owens of Batesburg, S.C.; brothers, Robert H. Deason of Lincolnton, Benjamin T. Deason, wife Amanda and daughter Gabrielle (Gabbi) of Stanley; sister, Christy Deason Hubbard and her husband Adam of Newton. Adam is also survived by his grandmother, Peggy R. Bennett; uncle, James L. Bennett Jr. of Catawba; aunt, Joyce Patterson Nemitz, her husband Bruce and their son Henry Patterson of Lincolnton.
A celebration of Adam’s life will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at The Latin Campus of Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 7424 E. W.T. Harris Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28227. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 12 noon. A memorial service will begin at 12 noon with Reverend Arnold Kessler officiating.
Adam’s mother and friends will honor him with a final ride to his favorite destination, Hot Springs, on a date to be announced.

Irene Williamson Payne
Irene Williamson Payne, 91, of Lincolnton, formerly of Huntersville, died Monday, November 19, 2012 at the Brian Center in Lincolnton.
She was born in Madison County, Ga. and was the daughter of the late Dewey Williamson and Rosa Mae Bales Williamson.
Mrs. Payne retired from Kimbrell’s Furniture Company in Charlotte where she worked as a bookkeeper for 50 years.
Preceding her in death was her beloved husband, John Allen Payne; two brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her children, John Payne and wife, Sandy, of Lincolnton, Jimmy L. Payne (Jean Miller) of York, S.C.; grandchildren, Michael Payne, Kimberly Berry, Bobby England, Beth Tice, Mark England and Kristy Payne-Leonard; great grandchildren, David Picklesimer, Ashley Payne, Derrick Picklesimer, Lindsay Payne-Morgan, Cassie England, Dylan Berry, Britton England, Brooke England, Sommer Tice, Brandi Berry, Matthew Barker and Blake Leonard; one expected great-great granddaughter, Arianna Morgan and sister, Gladys Freeman of Athens, Ga.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, November 23, 2012 at Forest Lawn West Cemetery with Pastor Ted R. Bost, Jr. officiating. Visitation is prior to the service from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Deborah Lynn Potter, 55, of Newton died November 19, 2012.
A funeral service will be held today at 11 a.m. at St. Matthews United Church of Christ, Maiden. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
