Jewell Nadine Overcash Beal
MAIDEN — Mrs. Beal, age 77, of 5250 E. NC 150 Hwy, Maiden passed away Friday, November 2, 2012. She was born in Catawba County to the late Robert Pinkey Overcash and Alda Hicks Overcash.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. today at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Richards officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Beal and brother, Glenn Overcash.
Survivors include her son, Kim Beal of Maiden; one niece and one nephew, along with numerous cousins.

Michael Robert Kolczynski
CONCORD — Michael Robert Kolczynski, age 37, of Concord passed away Thursday, November 1, 2012.
The family will receive friends at Wilkinson Funeral Home in Concord from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. today.
Michael was born on October 29, 1975 in Burlington, Vt., son of Robert Walter Kolczynski and Lois Ann Pracht Shrack. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was a math teacher at Rocky River High School in Mint Hill.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his loving wife, VaLerie Blackwelder Kolczynski and son Olin Michael Kolczynski; sisters, Barbara Lynn Hopkins, Patricia K. Fea, Cynthia J. Rose, their spouses, Michael G. Hopkins and Douglas Rose. Also surviving are his adoring nieces, Alyssa L. Fea, Christina M. Fea and nephews, Alex T. Hopkins, Andrew P. Fea, Jason R. Hopkins and Ben M. Hopkins.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to Mr. Kolczynski’s favorite charity, Heifer International, P.O. Box 8058, Little Rock, AR 72203-8058.

David Reece Hicks
Mr. David Reece Hicks, age 65, of 3433 E. Highway 27, Lincolnton went to be with the Lord Saturday, November 3, 2012.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Trinity Assembly of God in Bessemer City with Rev. Lee Russell and Rev. Leroy Easler officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Hicks was born April 22, 1947 in Gaffney, S.C. to Carroll Reece Hicks and the late Bessie Gentry Hicks. He was in the construction business for thirty-five years. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving in the Vietnam War. Mr. Hicks enjoyed reading, camping and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Suanne H. Hicks of the home; his father, Carroll Hicks and step-mother, Doris Hicks of Mt. Holly; two sons, David Michael Hicks of Belmont and Henry Sickler of Alexis; three daughters, Kristen Hicks of Pittsboro, Kelly Hicks of Novi, Mich. and Dee Davis of Tunkhannock, Pa.; one brother, James Hicks and wife Judy, of Iron Station; two sisters, Marie Revels of Stanley, Marsha Morgan and husband Ken, of Bessemer City; six grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Ernest Franklin Ledford
Ernest Franklin Ledford, age 81, of Levinfield Lane in Lincolnton died Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Catawba Regional Hospice of Sherrills Ford.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at Pearl Baptist Church where he was a member for 58 years. Mr. Ledford will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church. Dr. Robert Wensil, Rev. William Wease and Rev. Glenn Murphy will officiate. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Ledford was born May 1, 1931 in Lincoln County. He was preceded in death by his father, Clemmie John Ledford and mother Essie Ledford Downs. He was also preceded in death by sister, Jackie Tadlock and brother, Harvey Ledford. Mr. Ledford graduated from Rock Springs High School and was retired from Duke Energy after 37 years. He was a Corporal in the US Army serving during World War II.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Wilhemina J. Ledford of the home; brother, Charles Ledford and wife Audrey of Dallas, N.C.; brother-in-law, Alfred Johnson and wife Bonnie of Charlotte; brother-in-law, Robert Tadlock of Charlotte; sister-in-law, Daphine McRee of Lincolnton. He was loved by many nieces and nephews and the eight children that enriched the life of both Ernest and Wilhemina.
