Filing concluded Monday for candidates running for the newly redistricted Lincoln County Board of Education in November, and 10 contenders will be vying for four seats on the seven-member board.
All seats are being contested and three candidates will be on the ballot for two of the seats.
Asked about how those races will work in case the vote is split somewhat evenly, Board of Elections Director Bill Beam pointed to state statutes governing nonpartisan races, which indicate that the candidate with the most votes will be the winner, even if they have less than the 40 percent mark usually required in partisan contests.
One incumbent, at-large board member Kelly Childress, did not file for re-election, ensuring at least one newcomer on the board.

Joan Avery, a Crouse Democrat
Todd Wulfhorst, a Denver Republican
District 1 seat
Nolan Nance, a Vale Republican
Tommy Houser, a Vale Democrat

District 3 seat
Anita McCall, a Lincolnton Republican
Edward “Ed” Hatley, a Lincolnton Democrat
District 4 seat
Tony Jenkins, an Iron Station Republican
