James Frederick Brown
James Frederick Brown, 93, of Lincolnton, passed away on Tuesday, July 03, 2012 at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley, Newton. Mr. Brown was born in Lamar, MO. and was the son of the late Leonard Hurley and Della Brous Brown.
Mr. Brown was a veteran of the U. S. Navy during WWII and served on the USS Nevada, USS Quincy and USS Missouri on which he served during the signing of the peace treaty in Tokyo Bay. He retired from Quaker Oats Company of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and attended Lincoln Community Bible Church, Lincolnton.
Mr. Brown is survived by two sons, Loren Brown of Boerne, Tex., Caron Brown and wife Elaine of Lincolnton; five grandchildren, Jeff Brown and Jaclyn Hanover and husband Kyle of San Antonio, Tex., Greg Brown and wife Mary of Washington, D. C., Rachel Brown and Philip Brown of Dallas, Tex.; three great grandchildren, Bryce Hanover, Malory Hanover, Emmaline Brown.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Carothers Funeral Home, 412 South Main Street, Stanley, North Carolina with Graveside Services to follow at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Gardens, Mt. Holly, with Pastor Jay Newland officiating and Military Honors by the U. S. Navy.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 58 years, Anna Eales Brown; daughter, Mary Brown; daughter-in-law, Margarett Brown; brother, Floyd Brown; sister Elva Crockett.

Robert Eugene ‘Gene’ Payseur
Mr. Robert Eugene “Gene” Payseur, age 72, of 1033 Long Shoals Road in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, July 3, 2012.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Landers Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Frank Herman, Rev. Hinkle Rayfield, and Rev. Steven King officiating. Mr. Payseur was born October 18, 1939 in Gaston County to the late Oscar Robert and Mary Naomi Rash Payseur. He worked in maintenance at Timken. Mr. Payseur served in the United States Army Reserve until he was called back to the United States Army during the Cuban Crisis. From there, he was honorably discharged as the rank of Sergeant. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Mason Lodge #263 in Dallas.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Neal Payseur of the home; two sons, Pete Payseur of Lincolnton and Sidney Vaughn Payseur of Bessemer City; one step-daughter, Drenda Smith of the home; one brother, William Kenneth Payseur and wife Linda of Lincolnton; two grandchildren, Daniel Von Payseur and Cassie Carrie Ann Payseur, both of Lincolnton; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Donald Duyrant Frye
Mr. Donald Duyrant Frye, age 81, of 1097 W. Highway 150 in Lincolnton, died on Monday, July 2, 2012.
His funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. David Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Mr. Frye was born November 2, 1930 in Catawba County to the late Clarence F. and Vada Watts Frye. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Dedmon Frye, as well as two brothers. He served in the United States Army and then later worked as a brick mason. Mr. Frye was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He is survived by four sons, Douglas D. Frye of Hickory, Frank McSwain and Wally McSwain Lincolnton, and Marshall Forrester of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; two daughters, Debra Teter Frye of Tuscon, Ariz. and Saundra Smith of Lawndale; three sisters, Kletus Warren, Deloros Craig, and Doris Laws, all of Hickory; eleven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Binnie R. Bivens Turner, 87, of 5584 Hwy 182, Cherrvyille, died Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Carolina Care Center in Cherryville.
Born January 5, 1925 in Catawba County, she was a daughter of the late John Lee Bivens and Belzora Johnson Bivens. She was retired from SCT as a spinner and was a member of Bess Chapel United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Barney Turner; two daughters, and son-in-law, Kathy Gales and Linda and Lawrence Deaver; and ten brothers and sisters.
Survivors include a son-in-law, Gary Gales and wife, Velda of Cherryville; granddaughter, Melanie Bumgarner and husband, Jeff; two great-grandchildren, Megan and Matthew Bumgarner; and two sisters, Zinnie Talbert and Dorothy Keever both of Lincolnton.
Visitation will be held 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Thursday at Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday at Bess Chapel United Methodist Church. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes before the service. Officiating will be Rev. Roy T. Byers and Rev. Wayne Brittain. Burial will be in Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery.

MAIDEN — Rubye Irene Lawing Willis, age 95, formerly of Maiden passed away Monday, July 2, 2012 at Abernethy Laurels in Newton.
Born November 13, 1916 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late William Pink Lawing and Ruth Schrum Lawing. Mrs. Willis was a member of Memorial United Church of Christ in Maiden; a member of Maiden Chapter 127 OES and past Worthy Matron; a Sunday school teacher of 30 years and member of the Women’s Fellowship at church.
She retired from Null Mfg. where she served as a zipper-border machine operator.
In addition to her parents, husband, Ivey Frank Willis and a daughter, Sarah Willis Null, preceded her in death.
She is survived by son-in-law and long term care provider, Philip Null of Newton.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 4 p.m. at St. Matthews United Church of Christ in Maiden with Rev. Ronnie Parker officiating.
The family will receive friends, prior to the service, from 3 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. at Burke Mortuary Chapel in Maiden.
