Area festivities leading up to Christmas get under way Sunday with the Lincolnton Christmas parade.
This year’s parade begins at 4 p.m. Sunday, following a route from Lincolnton High School on North Aspen Street around the Court Square and down East Main Street. Following the parade, a ceremony to light the community Christmas tree will take place on the east lawn of the courthouse. For more information, call (704) 736-8915.
Denver will host its annual parade at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3. The parade route will be Hwy. 16 between North Pilot Knob Road and Triangle Circle. The tree lighting ceremony for Denver is 6 p.m. Friday at Lake Norman Lutheran Church. For more information on the Denver events, visit www.elbanc.org.
The unique Cat Square parade is 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10. The route begins at Zur Leonard Road in Vale. Registration Forms can be picked up from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Saturday and on Dec. 3 at Cat Square Superette in Vale. Parade forms include a map of parade route and staging area.
The City of Cherryville parade is also Dec. 10. Beginning at 10:30 a.m., the parade will conclude with carriage rides down Main Street and Elm Street. There will also be inflatables at the mini-park on Main Street, Santa Claus in the mini-park gazebo and numerous food vendors.
