The Lincolnton/Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce’s Ambassador’s Committee is rising in numbers. From January, when the group had 14 members, it now boasts an enrollment of 22.
Some credit the rapid rise to the efforts of chairman Gary Caldwell, who took up the reins last December.
“The whole group is very diverse, from all walks of the business world,†Caldwell said. “There are not any two people that are alike, everybody has their better points. It works out good.â€
Caldwell has been a member of the Chamber of Commerce since he was in his teenage years. It wasn’t until the last two years, however, that Caldwell started working heavily with the chamber.
When he was nominated last year to chair the ambassador’s committee he was very surprised.
“It blew me away,†he said. “I was not expecting it.â€
The purpose of the ambassador’s committee is to represent the Chamber of Commerce at ribbon cuttings; grand openings; Business After Hours events; and network business functions. The group also helps with the new membership drive.
The group meets once a month at a chamber member restaurant. All members are part of the chamber.
At the meetings, members go over upcoming events and listen to a guest speaker.
Caldwell is a Denver resident and one of the managers at Riverwalk Apartment Homes. He is also a member of the Denver Area Business Association.
His goal is to swell the committee’s membership ranks to at least 30 members by December.
