SPECIAL OLYMPICS
Lincoln County Special Olympics Program will be sponsoring a basketball series that will be held on Jan. 15 at Pumpkin Center Middle School, North Lincoln High School and East Lincoln High School. All games will begin at 10:30 a.m. A pep rally to start off will be held at North Lincoln High School at 10:15. The public is invited to come out and support the athletes.

SUNDAY LUNCHEON
McKendree United Methodist Church, 3637 Maiden Hwy., will host a luncheon Sunday from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Meals will include chicken pie and baked ham, vegetables, salads, desserts and homemade biscuits. Take-out orders are available. Donations will be accepted for the building fund. For details call 704-735-4062.

BENEFIT CONCERT
The Cockman Family of Sherills Ford will be in concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at Macedonia Baptist Church. A meal will begin at 5:30 p.m. Donations will be accepted to benefit Rodney Curles, a Lincoln County man battling tremendous medical problems.

CUP OF GRACE
The following events will be held at Cup of Grace Coffeehouse, 115 W. Court Square, this weekend: Flute Praise, a jazz group with a Latin flavor, will play at 7:30 p.m. Friday; Mike Futrell’s Karaoke Fun will take place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. CASTING CALL

HABITAT APPLICATIONS
Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln County is accepting applications for housing. Guidelines for qualifying and application forms can be picked up at the Habitat Home Store, 809 East Sycamore St. in Lincolnton. The deadline to apply is Feb. 1, 2005.
