N.A. Hannemann
NORFOLK, Va. — The Rev. Norman Albert Hannemann, 80, died Sept. 27, 2004. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Burial will follow in the New Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 today at the church.
A native of Hutchinson County, S.D., he served churches in Nebraska and Iowa and was the founding pastor of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wyoming. Since 1982, he had served as associate pastor and later as visitation pastor at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. He served on numerous boards in his districts.
Survivors include wife Dorothy Hannemann; four children, the Rev. Phillip Hannemann of Rugby, N.D., Daniel Hannemann of Lincolnton, Rebecca Schlund of Ravenna, Neb. and the Rev. Dr. Mark Hannemann of Lincoln, Neb.; one brother, Robert Hannemann of Seattle, Wash.; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Kevin DeVenny
Kevin Scott DeVenny, 50, of 1131 Jennifer Lane, died Sept. 30, 2004. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at First Wesleyan Church, where he was a member. Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Carpenter’s Funeral Home.
A native of Shelby, he was a project manager for SMI Rebar in Gastonia and was formerly employed by Carolina Freight for 20 years.
Survivors include wife Robin Seate DeVenny; a son, Nathaniel Scott DeVenny; parents, D.C. and Martha Walker DeVenny of Cherryville; twin brother Keith DeVenny of Cherryville; and brothers, Murray Beam Jr., Maurice Seate and Rick Jenks, all of Cherryville.

William Smith
KING MOUNTAIN — William Sidney “Sid†Smith, 66, of 1107 Mary’s Grove Church Road, died Sept. 28, 2004. A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. today at Mary’s Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
A native of Lincoln County, he was a retired insurance salesman having worked for United Family Life Insurance Company in Atlanta, Ga.
Survivors include wife Shirley Carpenter Smith; mother, Lucille Jenkins Smith of High Shoals; two daughters, Donna Kerns of Gastonia and Kim Hixon of High Point; four sons, Dean Davis, Brent Davis and Todd Davis, all of Cherryville, and Rick Davis of Kings Mountain; three brothers, Tim Smith of Iron Station, Tony Smith of Denver and Teddy Smith of Boiling Springs Lakes; three sisters, Mary Ellen Ballard of Iron Station, Rebera McCallister of High Shoals and Deborah Woodard of Lincolnton; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Johnny Forney
Johnny Lee Forney, 66, of 306 Sunny Hill Drive died Sept. 30, 2004. Services are 3 p.m. Saturday at Providence Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
A native of Lincoln County, Forney attended public schools and was a retired farmer.
Survivors include six brothers, Ralph Forney of Long Island, N.Y., Walter Forney of Conover, James W. Forney and Donald Forney of Newton, Benny Forney of Shelby and Booker T. Forney of Lincolnton; and two sisters, Mattie Ashe of Shelby and Mildred Forney of Lincolnton.

Cleveland Rayfield
SHELBY — Cleveland “Cleve†Arnold Rayfield, 57, of 134 Chicksaw Drive, died Sept. 28, 2004. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. today at Bethel Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Gardens in Mt. Holly.
A native of Gaston County, he was retired from the Juvenile Justice Court in Cleveland County. He was a liason for Pathways after retirement. He served as a church deacon, teacher and sang in the choir.
Survivors include wife Linda P. Rayfield; one son, Stephen Rayfield; one daughter, Paula Hamrick of Boiling Springs and two grandchildren, Wesley Hamrick and Jon-Michael Hamrick.

NEWTON – Noah Albert Rinehardt, 79, of 1208 Prison Camp Road, died Sept. 29, 2004. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Goodin-Drum Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Maiden Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
A native of Lincoln County, he was a produce salesman and former owner of Noah’s Grill.
Survivors include wife Virginia Williams Rinehardt, one son, Randy Putnam of Vale; two daughters, Josephine Young of Maiden and Margaret Parker of Lincolnton; two brothers, Fred Rinehardt of Newton and John Rinehardt of Maiden and one sister, Bertha Schrum.
Mable Beam
CHERRYVILLE – Mable Nix Beam, 79, died Sept. 29, 2004. Graveside services are 4 p.m. Saturday at City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. at Carpenter’s Funeral Home.
A native of Carroll County, Georgia, she was a retired teacher’s assistant at Cherryville East Elementary School and a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Celeste Beam Weaver of Cherryville; one brother, Dr. Victoria Nix of Athens, Ga. and twin sister Myrtle Nix Sanders of Marietta, Ga.

SHELBY – Odis Dee Lovelace, 84, of 2733 Royster Road, died Sept. 28, 2004. Funeral services were 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the Stamey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Wallace Grove Baptist Church.
He was retired as a cotton farmer and a member of Wallace Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include two stepsons, Robert “Bobby†Walker of Cherryville and J.D. Walker of Florida; three stepdaughters, Mary Hull of Shelby, Betty Vess of Grover and Louise Woods of Gastonia and 15 grandchildren.

Mary Ramseur
NEWTON — Mary Lee Ramseur, 64, of 2694 Providence Mill Road, died Sept. 26, 2004. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Olin AME Zion Church where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Born in Catawba County, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include one son, Brad Ramseur of the home; one brother, Roger Ramseur of Lincolnton; one grandson, Jay Ramseur; and one granddaughter, India Ramseur.

Kenneth Earl Moss
Kenneth “Kenny†Earl Moss, 33, of 8101 Optimist Club Road, Denver, NC, and formerly of Clover, SC, died Sunday September 26, 2004.
Kenny was an active member of Mount Anderson Baptist Church, Maiden, NC, and played drums for the choir.
He leaves behind his mother, Hope Kelly, and step-father, Sam Kelly of Denver, NC; one brother, Mark Oates; a very special niece, Morgan Oates; and special friend, Miss Jeanie Queen.
A memorial to celebrate his life will be on Sunday, October 3, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. at Mount Anderson Baptist Church, Maiden, NC.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his honor to the church’s building fund.
